I upgraded from Mixtour to Mixtour Pro, and I have to say, that DJPro has become almost unusable… for example it takes almost 5 seconds just to load a song. I had a gig the other night on Sunset Blvd at Hotel Ziggy, and if I would not have brought my old Mixtour, (which works fine) I would have been in big trouble. The Mixtour Pro is sluggish in every task I ask of it. djay is taking a long time to load at the app level as well. Does anyone have a similar experience? I am using an iPad Pro (3rd Gen) and latest version of iOS and djay pro.
The first question I will ask is if you have iCloud sync turned on in your iPad settings, if so then turn it off and try it again…
Hi @djsg,
Thanks for sharing this unexpected behavior with us!
So that I can better assist you, could you please answer the following questions:
- Are you streaming tracks to your iPad from a service like TIDAL or are these local tracks?
- Is this issue easily reproducible?
- Are you connecting the Mixtour Pro to your iPad with the original OEM cables that came with the device?
Thanks!
Sorry, I did not see the replies and was not notified they existed.
Yes, I am using the short cable that you supplied with the mixtour Pro. I am playing WAV files that I have copied to my iPad. I turned off iCloud, and now it appears to be operating normally. I will do more testing. There is one other thing I notice with Mixtour and Mixtour Pro. Each time I do a transition, if I do not slightly adjust the gain knob in the new track, the volume does not seem to adjust to the desired volume. In other words, if you don’t touch gain knobs at all, then slightly adjust them once the track is playing, the volume seems to jump noticably… therefore on each transition, I ride the gain knobs. LOL, it makes me look busy. Thanks guys, I’ll report back once I do more testing.
I think you will find the iTunes Sync is what caused the sluggish behaviour, you can try the experiment by switching it back on to see if the problem returns,
In regards to the Gains, I think this is normal behaviour and you will find that the same happens with the Eq, there may be a setting to prevent this from happening but I don’t know for sure…
I’m sure Slak will chime in soon to confirm.
Hi @djsg, if you want to manually adjust the gains for each song, then in the djay Settings>Sound you should turn Auto Gain OFF. If you want to use Autogain, then you should not touch the Gain knobs on the hardware during mixing. This can cause the Autogain value to jump to the position that your hardware knobs are set to and result in a sudden audible jump in Gain values.
