I’m now thinking up ideas for things - how about some kind of AI generative remix machine that can make new parts for a track as it plays? So it analyses the key and tempo then spits out new percussion parts, synth lines and so on, that you can either overlay or replace (similar to the Groove Circuit idea on the GRV6).
Another thought - why choose Mojaxx, out of all the people they could have asked to come and see it? Maybe there’s a reason behind their choice. He likes to play 45s. He likes to Twitch stream. Er…
No, you can see from the picture that it’s called Emulator. This was a product from around 2011 that cost over $15,000 and surprisingly didn’t do that well.
I can’t help but think of some pre-release teasers from years ago, of people seeing an off-camera thing and going ooh aah isn’t it wonderful, and it turned out to be quite ordinary.
This is Mojaxx though, and I don’t believe he would be a party to something like that.
It was tongue in cheek but you mustn’t have been around here when Spotify stopped Algoriddim (and all dj software) from using their platform, it was absolute bedlam here,
There were people asking for Spotify integration long after in was no longer available,
Spotify was/is the best music streaming all rounder and if they were to re integrate with Algoriddim once again and be exclusive, then that too would be a game changer,
Phil Morse had a youtube video up recently about how much further can we go with dj equipment technology, saying that there isn’t too much more we can get, I mean some new features that have been implemented recently in the Pioneer range have been a bit gimmicky to say the least…
The main game changers of late that have really stood out and made a difference have been Stems and the Fluid Beatgrid feature…
But yes let’s wait and see what is installed for us next…
My guess is that it is either some sort of new on-the-fly stem based live loop sampler that can sample off tracks playing in real time and be stored as custom looper packs samples across entire sets, and possibly even saved as banks and loaded in to other sets. Possibly even an AI function that breaks down a single track into a bunch of unique stem based loops that can be layered and remixed.
Either that, or a version of DJ Studio but built into djay, where you can record your set and then go back and edit it in a new Djay DAW. My guess is this will be a separate software for desktop only that you have to subscribe to separately, but will allow you to export your set with all track info, fx, tempo and key info, to edit in the daw.
And if it is this, I would say they also are maybe working on a streaming social media aspect for hosting said mixes, since they would be vertically integrated, they could retain all stems info for licensing so mixes would be legit.
The other thing possible would be a partnership with Twitch, that is a filter applied to libraries, or streaming catalogues like tidal etc. that only lets you play songs that are on the approved list of licensed songs you can play on twitch as part of their DJ program. This list is growing quickly and is such a vast catalog that it would need to be integrated in such a way directly with the DJ software.
Now that I think about it, this last option seems very likely…
The custom Looper function fits the bill, especially if it’s possible to adjust pitch and key, It’s also something that has been asked for on a regular basis. I like the idea.
I’d have to agree here. Innovation is great and all, and Algoriddim surely have done some great things to advance digital DJing. But I have to say that making existing features work better should be something to look into as well. DVS still doesn’t work properly, which is a shame. I really hope that, after this neww innovation, Algoriddim takes a step towards a “Snow Leopard” of DJing - as in a new iteration of Djay Pro that is focused on tying in all existing features into a stable and polished form. Well, I’m still looking forward to what this revolutionary new thing is going to be.
Unfortunately a lot of DJing seems to be heading to “do it for me” vs “do it with me”. Us turntable users are a dying breed when 99% of Algoriddim’s users are using controllers. It seems they’re working with Alpha Theta a bit more, honestly getting the full functionality of the DJM-S11 screen would get me to switch full time.
Me too. Fluid grids and crossfader FX are great but it’d be nice if Algoriddim can get the basics right especially when it comes to library management (eg IMO we still can’t sort by multiple columns and DJay ignores the key ID3 tag in favor of its own analysis which is often wrong).
IDK about dying, but it’s surely become a niche, and it is even more so among DJay users, I guess. Serato, Rekordbox and Traktor work very well with DVS though, so it’s doable, and to me personally, proper DVS is the one thing that keeps me from switching to DJay entirely, instead of relegating it to my emergency mobile iPad kit. Which I love for what it is, don’t get me wrong. You’re right though, library management has some flaws. It’s workable, but sometimes annoying.
Anyway, I’ve derailed the thread enough - sorry 'bout that folks
