If algoriddim DJ IS Not able to integrade simple Midi Protokoll instead of only Ableton sync you are loosing me as a customer until the end of the year. And i Hope that i do Not have to pay one more year subscription. The Software is mega ultra great for my needs but i have to use @ least 1-2 more expensive devices Just to get the Ableton Link available to sync Midi devices.
IT sucks really really hard having to use more external Hardware and Software, Just getting a Ableton Link available. Get Midi and timecode…
And finally, IT sucks that Ableton Link cannot ne send via Bluetooth…
So basically wherever i Play with this Software i have to use a Plug in Wireless LAN Access Router…that i have to Cary with me, Just to pair my Midi device (mpc live 2) via WLAN to get an Ableton Link.
About Ableton Link through bluetooth…
That is a thing that Ableton needs to define and support first.
Define a specification how to do it, so that app vendors can implement.
" Does Link work over Bluetooth?
Link is not supported over Bluetooth." based on this
Most probably the issue is that it’s kind of impossible to do fast enough bluetooth implementation.
Ie. there will be lag/delay and that lag is just easier to handle with tcp-ip/udp protocols.
There is this
but that’s only for audio/video.
but it’s stil 40ms, not really good enough for timecode/midi sync
“The latency on iOS and macOS came from the limitation of the Bluetooth connection interval. This is a rule set by Apple. On iOS it is 11.25ms minimum. On macOS it is 7.5ms minimum.”
Hi @Stefan_Schanzenbache, thanks for feedback. Sorry to hear about your frustrations with Ableton Link. I have shared this with our dev team for consideration. I’ll let you know if they have any follow up questions, comments or recommendations on this…
