Is there a way to mount the decks and mixer without having to turn everything off and back on again? I ran into problems with the decks disconnecting when the screen went in lock mode. I disabled the sleep mode and have to turn the computer on before anything else. I had a gig this weekend and lost connection somehow but couldn’t shut everything down and reboot because I had another DJ spinning on my mixer. Has anyone had this issue? Is so, how can I get djay to recognize my 12’s without having to restart the whole system?
Hi @DJ_A_Diffrance, I’m not sure I understand the question here. Are you looking for a way to disconnect the hardware from the djay software without physically unplugging or turning off the hardware? Can you please elaborate? Thanks!
A way to ‘connect’ without physically unplugging or turning off the hardware.
I’ve noticed that when I turn my laptop on first, before anything else, everything mounts, but if my laptop is already on, and then I turn on the 12’s and mixer, when I press play on the 12’s it doesn’t play in the software. The only way I’ve been able to get it to connect is shut everything down and restart the computer first. So I’m wondering if there’s a way to avoid having to do restart everything and power back up in that particular sequence. I haven’t tried toggling between devices in DJay Pro yet (that just came to mind). I hope this is clearer.
Hi @DJ_A_Diffrance, thanks for the clarification. There is no way to “virtually” disconnect the hardware within djay. Normally you would need to unplug or power it off. In the djay Settings>Devices you could try switching back and forth between Internal and External Mixer Mode or Selecting a different Main Output in the dropdown then pressing the Revert button at the bottom left.
- How exactly are you connecting your RANE 12’s and Mixer to your Mac? Are you using any USB hubs or adapters?
- Have you tried connecting to a different USB port on you Mac to see if you get more a more consistent connection?
- Have you tried different USB cables?
- Are you using a digital or analog mixer?
- What macOS version, djay version and specific Mac hardware are you using?
- Are you running the latest firmware for you RANE 12’s and Mixer?
Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
As always, thanks for your help Slak_Jaw. I think the issue is the orientation of the USB C plug. If I flip it, the twelve’s catch. Might have something to do with my choice of USB dock. I’ve repeated the process a couple of times and it seems to have the same behavior. Going to try a different dock. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for the follow up @DJ_A_Diffrance. You’re welcome! Always happy to help.
