Muffled/Degraded Audio on Channel 1 with DDJ-FLX10, Resolved by Software Restart
Device & Software Information:
- Controller: Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 (Firmware version: [Please add firmware version if known])
- Computer: MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2023)
- Processor: Apple M2 Pro
- Memory (RAM): 32GB
- Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.0.1
- Software Version: Algoriddim dJay Pro 5.5
Summary of Issue: While DJing, the audio output from Channel 1 suddenly became heavily muffled and degraded. The audio quality on channels 2, 3, and 4 remained perfect.
Steps to Reproduce: Unfortunately, the issue occurred spontaneously during a session and I cannot reliably reproduce it.
- Began a DJ session with the DDJ-FLX10 connected to the MacBook Pro running dJay Pro 5.5.
- All channels were functioning correctly.
- After some time, about 30 minutes, I noticed the audio from Channel 1 was muffled and degraded, like the sound from behind a door.
- I had just loaded a track by mistake and pressed cmd-z to restore the previous track
Additional information; this was DJ session number two that day. It followed a 90 minute session at another location where after playing the laptop lid was closed before relocating to a new gig and re-setup but with no restart of the application.
Observed Result: Channel 1’s audio output was muffled and of poor quality. All other channels (2, 3, 4) sounded clear and as expected.
Expected Result: Audio output from Channel 1 should remain clear and at full fidelity, matching the other channels.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Restarted DDJ-FLX10: I power-cycled the controller. This did not fix the issue. The audio on Channel 1 remained muffled when the controller reconnected.
- Restarted djay Pro Software: I closed and reopened the dJay Pro 5.5 application. This did fix the issue. Upon restarting the software, audio on Channel 1 returned to normal.
Conclusion: Since restarting the hardware had no effect, but restarting the software did, this may appear to be a software bug within djay Pro, where the audio processing or routing for a specific channel became corrupted.
