Music Browser Filter seems to be caching options for Genre

  • MacBook Air M2
  • 5.6.7

When adding a filter for Genre in djay’s Music Browser, it appears to be retain entries that are not relevant to the selection/library. In the following screenshot, Self-Development is listed as an option, but it is not present in my Apple Music library anywhere.

djay on my iPhone and iPad do not exhibit this problem - the list of Genres is correct for the selection/library. The only music I have downloaded in Apple Music is my djay playlist, and that exactly matches what is on my iPhone and iPad. When using the column browser in Apple Music on my MacBook, “Self-Development” is not listed as a genre.

Hi @kokernutz, thanks for the detailed info and screenshot. This is very helpful. I have a few follow-up questions before I share this with our engineers for further review:

  1. Which macOS version # is your MacBook Air running?
  2. Which library source was selected in djay when you took the screenshot — Apple Music, Local Music, My Collection, a specific playlist, or the full library view?
  3. If you actually select “Self-Development” in the Genre filter and let it apply, do you get zero tracks back, or does it turn up one or more? This may give use some clues as to where the entry is coming from.
  4. It looks like there may be a BPM filter set to 130 sitting next to the Genre filter in your screenshot. Was that active at the time? If you clear all your other filters and then reopen the Genre list, does “Self-Development” still show up?
  5. Does it stick around after you quit djay and relaunch it?
  6. Any chance a spoken-word file — an audiobook, a podcast episode, a meditation or self-help track — was ever in your library at some point, whether through My Collection or by dragging in a file? Even something you’ve since deleted is worth mentioning.
  7. Had you noticed this before 5.6.7, or is it new to you with this version?

Thanks again!
