Music playback briefly stops

When using Djay for approximately 3 to 50 minutes, music playback briefly stops.
The duration of the problem is not consistent.

The app runs on an iPad.
Restarting the iPad does not resolve the issue.
The problem is reproducible with both the DDJ-FLX10 and RELOOP BUDDY DJ controllers.

I’ve been playing at larger clubs more often lately, and this problem is quite troublesome.

iPad Air(3rd gen) 64GB(10.81GB Free)
iOS version : 26.4.1
Djay version : 5.6.4
DDJ-FLX10 firmware version : 1.14

I’ve finally managed to capture a video of the problem, which I’ve attached.
The steps taken during video recording were:

  1. Turn off iPad → Restart

  2. Launch Djay app

  3. Launch DDJ-FLX10

  4. Connect USB cable

  5. Load tracks onto both the left and right decks

  6. Play the left deck

Hi @magokorokun, thanks for the details about the issue, your setup and for the video - this is very helpful.

  1. How exactly are you connecting your iPad to your hardware? Please share details about all cables, adapters and hubs.
  2. Is your iPad also connected to power and charging normally?
  3. Have you noticed any overheating of your iPad when this happens?
  4. Are you running any other apps in the background?
  5. Do you have WiFi and/or Bluetooth enabled?
  6. How much free space is remaining on your iPad?
  1. Connection methods are described for both using the DDJ-FLX10 and using the RELOOP Buddy.
  • DDJ-FLX10:iPad(Lightning) => Lightning Camera Adapter(USB Type-A) => USB Type-A to Type-C Cable => DDJ FLX10
Lightning Camera Adapter(Lightning) => Lightning to USB Type-A Cable => AC Adapter

  • RELOOP Buddy : iPad(Lightning) => Lightning to USB Type-A Cable => RELOOP Buddy

With this setup, I play Buddy about five times a month and FLX10 about once every two months, but I don’t recall this issue occurring until about six months ago.

Note that this issue does not currently occur when using Djay on the iPad alone without connecting a controller.

  1. Yes. It is connected to a power source and charging normally.

  2. The iPad is not overheating.

  3. No background apps are running.

  4. Wi-Fi is ON and connected to the club’s or home’s Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is turned on, but nothing is connected.

  5. The iPad’s free storage space is 10.81GB, as stated in the first article.

That’s all.
I have several events coming up soon where I’ll have about 60 minutes of stage time, so any temporary workarounds would be very helpful.

Regarding the timing of the problem, it can occur even when the song is simply playing, but it seems to occur most frequently the moment a controller is operated.

It occurs immediately after touching the cue button, vertical fader, pitch fader, equalizer, etc.

This problem occurs randomly even after the first time. It is especially common when using the controller.

Hi @magokorokun, thanks for answering my questions.

  • Are you using a genuine Apple Lightning Adapter or a third party one? If it’s the Apple one, how old is it and is the Lightning connector and USB-A socket in good shape?
  • Is this an original Apple Lightning to USB-A cable? Have you tried using a different Apple cable?
  • For both scenarios above, please check the Lightning socket on your iPad to ensure that it is free of any dust and debris that could cause an intermittent connection. I’ve experienced this issue myself with older iPads.
  • You may also want to consider taking your iPad to an Apple service center so they can run diagnostics on the Lightning socket. I’ve also had one of these fail on an iPad before and the service center was able to diagnose it.
  • If possible, can you please test with either controller connected and your iPad in Airplane mode?
