My Collection playlists are randomly empty

Macbook Air m2 2023
Sequoia latest
Djay Pro latest

Problem : Yesterday i opened my Djay pro and my collection was empty … Playlist OK without songs inside - Folders with nothing inside ( For example , i have House folder with Deep , Tech , etc)
I tried to relocate my files but the message was : “Your collection is correct and no files are missing”

How to reproduce the issue:. .NO way to repruduce it - Today I have exactly the same problem !

EDIT : again happens … right now i have no songs in my collection !

Solution : restart the software … NOT Funny at all :frowning:

Hi @Mauri_Moore, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Can you please confirm if you are still experiencing this issue or was it resolved by restarting djay? Thanks!

Can you please provide more details about the source of this music (local mp3 stored on internal drive, Tidal, FLAC files on an external drive, files store in iCloud, etc.)?

Hi : Local storage (Internal drive) - all my collection in one folder , Mostly Mp3 & Aiff , not Icloud -
still happens sometimes

Thanks for the additional info @Mauri_Moore. Can you please share some screenshots of these empty playlists?

Right Now all is working OK

That’s good news @Mauri_Moore. Thanks for the follow up.

It would be great to know what happened

I absolutely agree @Mauri_Moore. However, without more information it will be difficult for us to try to reproduce the issue and troubleshoot it further. If it happens again, please try to capture a video. Thanks!

Hi again @Mauri_Moore, I shared this with the engineering team and they have asked for a screen recording and Sample Process the next time the issue is occurring. It’s important to capture the Sample Process while the problem is occurring.

To capture a Sample Process, please follow the process below:

  1. In the Activity Monitor app on your Mac, click the System diagnostics options pop-up menu, then choose Sample Process to create a report on a selected process over a period of 3 seconds.
  2. Then upload the report to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the file here.

Thanks!

Hi @Mauri_Moore, I’m just following up on my last message from a week ago. Have you been able to capture a video and/or sample process?

I have a similar problem.

I recently started using more Smart Crates (only around 9) and noticed when I go into a regular Playlist it would be empty but if I click on another Playlist and return, then the songs appear.

Also sometimes I would drag songs to a playlist and when I go into that Playlist the songs I just dragged are not there but if I select another Playlist and return then the songs I just dragged appear.

Not sure if its Smart Crates causing this behavior or recently I’ve started adding more tags that might be causing this. It’s random but never happened before I started using more Smart Crates (around 9),Tagging (all columns) and Folders (around 20).

Not using any streaming service. All songs are from one folder on internal drive.
Will try to capture a video.

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed info @Donn. This is very helpful. Please share the video when you can.

If you could also try to capture a Sample Process while this issue is occurring that would be great (see instructions above). Thanks again!

Hi @Donn, I’m just following up on my message from 10 days ago. Were you able to capture a video and sample process of this?

Hi Slak_Jaw, not sure if this is related but i had two crashes while working on playlist. I was dragging a batch of songs to a playlist and when i clicked on that playlist it crashed. I sent in a crash report from the djay menu i think ‘feedback’ or something.

It’s random hard to catch it on video but the dev want a video even though i sent a crash report. Shouldn’t the crash report show what happended?

Thanks!

Hi @Donn, it’s possible they are related. To help us track this crash to this specific topic, please submit an Official Support Ticket using the procedure below so the engineering team can review your crash reports in more detail. Please make sure to include the title of this Community topic in the subject of your email. Thanks!

  1. Open the djay Pro app on your Mac.
  2. In the top left corner of your screen, click on the portion of the menu bar that says “djay Pro”.
  3. In the drop-down menu, click on the button that says “Provide djay Pro Feedback”.
  4. Fill out the submission form that will pop up in your default browser and title your email “ATTN: MARIE – “ My Collection playlists are randomly empty” in the provided subject line.
