My Collection: support for Match feature (iOS, Windows) I Can’t seem to get this to work on windows or IOS or maybe I am missing can anyone verify that this works on windows local files.
Hi @Melbourne, the local music files need to be added to the My Collection source first. Then Match should work.
Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
No, it is not solved because while it works with Aiff file if the keys are detected properly, it does not work with flac file because as I have been saying since the beta of Djay Pro 5 for windows that the program cannot reads the meta data for flac files, it is random crap shoot. Today it reads a few flac files then 15 minutes after it’s reads a few different files. It’s over a year since I reported this problem with Djay Pro inability to process meta data for flac files with no resolution. The reason why I didn’t respond earlier to your solution is that after about one year reporting a problem. I realized that my problem is not a priority. But only to me, I have over 50,000 flac tracks with all the meta data in them. But Djay Pro is the only DJ program that doesn’t decode the meta data for flac file properly. Also, if you can’t even edit the key for a track when the program gets it wrong then how will match work as it should, that’s a very important field for match to work as it is intended.
I’m going to move this info over to the other topic as it’s more related.
Moved comments:
You’re not alone. I too have a large collection of music in Flac format. I also don’t have updated metadata in Flac files. Even by pressing ctrl+r they are not updated. Only adding them again in djay pro updates the metadata.
I completely understand why djay pro does not pay proper attention to Flac format. Djay pro is a DJ program for Apple’s eco-system. And Apple doesn’t know what Flac is.
Djay pro offers us to build our collection through iTunes. iTunes on Window! But iTunes does not accept files in Flac format. It’s a vicious circle.
All DJ programs can read “Comment” field in Flac files without problems. Djay Pro can’t do it. You need to add a new field “DESCRIPTION” and write the necessary text there. Then Djay Pro will be able to read such a comment to Flac file.
Not professional! But so far this is the only solution.
The same painful situation with the “Rating” field.
Traktor 4 suggests adding the RATING WMP field and specifying the following values:
0 = no value
51 = 1 star
102= 2 stars
153= 3 stars
204= 4 stars
255= 5 stars
DJUCED suggests adding the DJUCED_RATING_DATA field and putting numbers from 1 to 5.
Djay Pro doesn’t suggest anything and I repeat iTunes can’t read Flac files so we can edit metadata through iTunes.
It is not professional to edit metadata through iTunes, but at least this is a solution, but there is no solution either.
Anyway, we are left to wait for a solution from the developers.
I would like them to teach djay Pro to read the “Comments” field like all DJ programs do, and also to read RATING WMP field like Traktor does. Or offer their own “Rating” field to fill in the metadata, let’s say DJYA_RATING_DATA.
It would be good to save CUE points in metadata too…
