"My tag" option like Rekordbox to organize library

  • Device model: Macbook Pro
  • Version of djay: 5.2

I’m about to switch from Rekordbox 7 to Djay Pro 5.2. I prefer Djay Pro in many things, but I’m really missing the “my tag” option that Rekordbox has. It is so handy to define custom tags and then organizing the whole library with smart playlists based on those tags.

I know I can export the “My Tag” to the comments fields, so it appears in Djay Pro, but if I want to change anything in Djay pro in the comments section it’s quite a pain and also the smart lists based on the comments field doesn’t work the same.

Is there anything planed to implement such a feature?
Or how do you organize your music without this missing piece?
Maybe I’m missing something?

Thank you.
Cheers,
Pao

Yes, and please bring tag editing (and all the other missing features available on other platforms) to the PC version (that’s Intel and AMD, not ARM).

Thank you.

Hi @paolee, there currently is no “my tag” option available in djay. However, I have changed your topic from a Question to a Suggestion and have forwarded this idea onto the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thank!

Yes, please! I was gladly surprised to see that tag editing was finally implemented but this is still one of the few features missing that is preventing me to switch to Djay as my main software for library organization (and I really want to switch!). @Slak_Jaw, is there any news since you forwarded the idea to the dev team?

Hi @ome, thanks for your interest in this feature. We do not have any news to share at this time, but I will report back when we do. Thanks!

Now that Rekordbox + Djay Pro interact well with OneLibrary, I’d love to have MyTags also be interoperable. Is this planned?

Thanks for the input @marcus3. We don’t have any news to share regarding this.

Damn. I really want to switch over to Djay Pro due to it really being a better software, however some of the established filtering and quick nav features of Rekordbox keep me there. I’m rooting for this software tho. Wild how good some of its fundamentals are!

hi everyone, i wanna suggest a tagging system for the library

basicly what rekordbox uses, its like grouping, but with a premade tag that we can checklist into music files

then that tag can feed into smart playlist, its a quick and efficient way of library management

hopefully this is feasible

and on a different note, maybe a battery meter for mac os?

Hi @echa0361 please use search before creating new topics. I have merged your new topic with this existing one. Please vote above. Thanks!

A tag option, similar to Rekordbox, would be great! Alternative: some ‘custom fields’ (next to the existing Color, Genre, Rating and so forth.

Could the ‘Favorite’ field from Music be imported in Djay Pro as well? I use this field to indicate my favorite tracks, which would be a handy filter in Djay Pro.

Thanks for the additional input @TheAfterTouch

Yes agreed colour would be great :clap:t5:

Thanks for the feedback @Mixfit

That is what I also have been missing. I tend to group my songs by genre/style, but I’ll have more than 500 of each, and when I used recordbox, I would use intelligent playlist, tag my songs with a more descriptive tag of the song’s mood and vide and then automatically they will be shown in my intelligent playlist. This is a workflow a lot of djs use.

Please add this feature (I just voted). The ability to add custom tags like Recordbox is missing in DJay Pro and it would make our workflows and automated/smart playlists easier.
