Native Instruments Traktor Z1 mk2

Confirmation that the new Z1 is usb class compliant and midi mappable. Should be easy to add a djay mapping that works in iOS?

I guess it’s unlikely the screens will work though, right?

That seems to be Algoriddim’s speciality. No screen support.

It’s an improvement over every other NI controller, which are not usb class compliant so can’t work with djay on iOS.

I’ve always carried a Z1 in my ultra-portable kit, so the Mk2 is a nice upgrade. My old Z1 is 8+ years old and still going strong, but I can’t wait to swap it out for the Mk2.

Very true. Would love to see Algoriddim djay fully support the level meters and OLED screens; but in comparison to the Mk1, the class compliance on the Mk2 is a nice update, especially since it’s confirmed to work in iOS … (and enjoy the face-palm irony of the last sentence in the post)

:joy: … enter djay Pro

Well it’s not unexpected that old discontinued software doesn’t work (or support new hardware).

Hello everyone. I’ve passed this onto the dev team for consideration. Please continue to use the vote button so we can gauge demand for this hardware. Thanks!

I hope you guys understand this.

  1. Not everyone comes here to give feedback and vote.
  2. Many are not buying these devices because there is no native support from third-party software like yours.

Sometimes, you have to give in order to gain, right?

My X1 MK3 isn’t supported, and if both the X1 MK3 and Z1 MK2 were supported, I would buy the Z1 MK2 right away! I understand that it’s not your hardware…

I’ve had a DJay Pro subscription for a long time, but none of my devices are properly supported. I can’t switch from Rekordbox and Traktor because DJay simply doesn’t give me the confidence to make that switch. It makes me wonder why I’m paying for something I can’t fully use—if not for the hope that my small contribution will help us back in the long run.

I have successfully mapped both my X1MK3 and Z1MK2 for use with my iPad and iPhone - granted they are not “natively supported” but credit where it is due, the developers have made it easy to map 3rd party devices as much as they can provided that they are class compliant and midi mappable (which is solely down to the manufacturers discretion).

Although I think there is room for improvement (VDJ are quick to natively support hardware) props need to be given to the Algoriddim team for what they have achieved with this platform so far

Agree, I don’t disregard what they have been doing, also because of these issues it stops them from growing even bigger and to be on top, I wish djay to have great success, and can’t wait to see many pro djs using this software as their main choice, right now it’s still stuck at “beginner” market, so users like you and me should push them more, not just saying “this is enough”.

When it comes to many pro controller they have been saying “this and that” can’t fully support, and there is the easiest thing to support they say more users have to vote… come on… I understand you are short of man and time… but that’s not users problems right ??? Do something…

whenever I give my opinion there will be always someone in this form will speak on be behalf of them.

We should give them more feedback and tips, so they can be in No.1 spot.

Hey @thisisJNR !

can you explain how you mapped the 2 new Traktor Kontrols for the iPad / iPhone?
Is everything working?

Thank you

Hi @Cash, here’s a guide for MIDI mapping on iOS.

Thank you!

But: My question was addressed to @thisisJNR since he made the two controllers, traktor kontrol x1 mk3 & traktor kontrol z1 mk2 to work

You’re welcome @Cash

Hi @Cash sorry for the late reply but it’s just as @Slak_Jaw has said, I put the devices into midi-mode so that they would be able to send midi control data to dJay (some other NI controllers don’t allow this).

I initially starting mapping the X1MK3 to control the EQ for when mixing internally, however once NI had sent the Z1MK2 to test I switched it up so that the Z1 handles the functions of a normal mixer (standard eq’s, 1 instant fx per channel etc) and the X1MK3 independently controls neuralmix eq’s, cue-points, loops etc - I have created a document illustrating how it functions below

Thanks for sharing @thisisJNR

Hi friends,
I mapped Z1 mk2 on djpro, but I can’t get vumeter to work. I also tried with the Smuschel mapping for Z1 mk1 (DJ TechTools - NI Traktor Kontrol Z1 for Algoriddim djay Pro with VU meter), but, obviously, midi channels dedicated to the Vumeter on mk2 are different. Any suggestions?

MIDI mapping VU LED meters is not currently supported in the djay MIDI Learn tool.

Yeah now that you mention it, I did not get the vumeters to work

yes, I know. I tried adding the following text lines on the midi mapping file

outputs

controlType
control
keyPath
turntable1.monoMeter
midiChannel
2
midiData
3
midiMaxValue
127
midiMessageType
3
midiMinValue
0

controlType
control
keyPath
turntable2.monoMeter
midiChannel
2
midiData
4
midiMaxValue
127
midiMessageType
3
midiMinValue
0

but, doesn’t work, because I don’t know the correct vumeter midi channel on mk2
