Needle position at 12 o'clock

  • Device model - Macbook pro

  • Version of operating system Tauho 26.5

  • Version of djay 5.6.3

  • Hardware/controllers used DDJ REV5 pioneer

I use the REV5 for scratching. DJay pro have this issue that a set cue point is always pointing at 12 o’clock. That means that when the track reaches the next cue point the needle jumps to about 9 o’clock in preparation for the next cue point (at 12). It makes scratching impossible and very confusing.

  1. how to disable the needle cue point jump? - it should simply continue spinning, no jumping around to the next point.
  2. most turntablists use the 2 o’clock position, typically as their first cue point, the rest will be around the record wherever they ‘land’. So the first cue point should be at 2

I am attaching a video to make it clear what I mean.

Hi @DJ_jazzcool, thanks for the detailed info and video. I double checked with our engineering team and this is indeed expected and intended behavior in djay (also very similar to Serato behavior). There is currently no optional setting to change this behavior.

Yeah I’m using rekordbox when I scratch and the spin is continuous. Needle jumping is like a vinyl record that doesn’t complete a full rotation. It’s disorienting.

Too bad there’s no way to change this.

Thanks for the follow up @DJ_jazzcool. I’ve passed you comments onto our engineering team.
