New Macbook Air - FLX4 - Reloop mixer

YOUR QUESTION:

  1. I set up my new Macbook Air M4 yesterday, it works perfectly if I plug the FLX4 direct into the PreSonus subwoofer’s RCA input but when I plug into one of the channels in my Reloop RMX44 mixer the sound comes out of the Macbook.
    Should the external audio settings automatically pick up the mixer and should it show Reloop RMX44 as an option in the drop downs ? I’m very new to digital so apologies in advance!! The mixer does work fine, I’ve checked the vinyl decks and the channel I use for just my phone, all working fine. Djay Pro version whatever is brand new from Apple store :slight_smile:

Hi Chris

It shouldnt do that as it should work exactly the same way. The laptop shouldnt have any visibilty of the mixer at all if you’re just connecting it to the FLX4 with USB. The RCA cable should just be outputting sound to either device as the master output.

I have used the Mixer with the FLX4 before when attached to a Galaxy Tablet, but doesn’t work with either my Macbook or iPhone! Very baffling but could be some setting I need to adjust that I don’t know about

Could it be the bluetooth on the mixer being connected to your laptop? im not sure exactly how it all works but it could be interfering with the audio routing

I haven’t even been into the Bluetooth on the Macbook yet but I connected it to a different channel, not the channel with the BT on.

In the Djay Pro external mixer settings, what should the drop down items be? At the moment the options are Macbook, FLX4 and Rekorbox

Should be FLX4 i would guess, then it will output the sound to the FLX4 RCA output.

i didnt know if your macbook was connected to the bluetooth on the mixer wlrelessly and that was causing the issue? it might have auto paired or something.

The Bluetooth module is on a different channel though. When I get home i will check that though.

Is there a certain order to plug the cables in? I’m assuming it should register it whenever it’s plugged in regardless of order

Im just thinking if the laptop is connected to the bluetooth of the mixer its impacting how the software is directing the sound? I know when i connect say a speaker to my laptop it then directs the sound away from the speakers to the speaker.

It sounds like choosing FLX4 as the external mixer in the settings should solve it though, but then plugging the RCA into the mixer shouldnt be changing that at all, perhaps its just reset itself after an update? i know my DVS settings have been wiped out a few times after updates on my ipad.
