Your question:

Hi!

Currently using DJay Pro with DDJ FLX-4. I connect my computer to speakers via headphone jack, and use the DDJ FLX-4’s headphone jack for headphone cueing.

One day, it just stopped playing cue audio. I have “headphones” set for main output, DDJ FLX-4 channel 3-4 for cueing. Dials are set correctly (all the way to cue, headphone level up). I think cueing itself is broken because I set the laptop’s internal speakers for cueing and still no audio.

I’ve tested with rekordbox and it’s not a hardware issue.

How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Hi @chonger.mix, welcome to the Community! I recommend that you connect your speakers to the Master RCA sockets on the rear panel of the FLX4 instead of to your computer headphone socket. Then connect your headphones to the headphone socket on the front panel FLX4. This is how the FLX4 is indented to be connected and should solve your audio issues.

Hi, unfortunately my speakers don’t take RCA. Is there another solution? It was working fine before, I don’t know why it stopped working.

I would get one of these cables. They are cheap and readily available. My speaker doesn’t have RCA either. I connect my controller with an RCA to 3.5mm stereo cable.

Hi again @chonger.mix, you could also check your audio driver and output settings.

  1. In the djay Settings>Audio Devices, try changing the Audio Driver from ASIO to WASAPI.
  2. Then set the Main Output to **Speakers - Realtek.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

I have djay pro 5.4 for win 11 with flx4 deck and i am having the same headphone cueing problem. I don’t recognise your screen shot and can’t seem to find any access to change drivers to wasapi. I love the software so much but I just can’t use it. I don’t want to resort to rekord box. please help. in fact , does anybody have a detailed midi map for the flx4 in win11?
thanks very much

Hi @Chris_Mellor, welcome to the Community! First of all, please update to djay 5.4.2 to ensure you are running the latest Windows patches.

To access the screenshot I shared above, simply select the “hamburger” icon at the top left of the djay screen and to the left to the “record” icon. Then select Audio Devices. I hope that helps!

Thanks for getting back to me. Just to be clear I could see your screenshot but it doesn’t match my interface I don’t have that panel I can’t seem to access the drivers at all. I have just had another run through and I’ve isolated the problem. Whenever the neural mix effects are turned on for the crossfader it cuts off the headphone queuing I can only get it back by turning neuro mix off again. The smart fader button on the flx4 turns it off and restores headphone queuing but it doesn’t toggle it back on again. Lastly I am running 5 4.2 and the flx 4 is new out of the box. Thanks again for your help

Hi @Chris_Mellor, this is expected behaviour when using Neural Mix - it’s currently not supported in pre-cuing. This is a current limitation with how the Neural Mix engine audio routing works. The workaround is to disable NM when pre-cuing in the headphones

Thanks again. At least I can stop trying to fix it.
Do you think it’s the kind of thing that will be patched anytime soon? Do you know if it is a live issue for devs?

You’re welcome @Chris_Mellor. It is something that the dev team is working on, but is a lot more complex to address than it seems on the surface. So, we cannot provide any kind of timeline or firm commitment on this. I hope that helps!

Thanks again. I don’t doubt that is complicated but for all that I think I
prefer it to record box even though that’s native to the flx4.
As a work around, Do you think it would be possible to map a single button
on the flX4 to toggle the neuro mix effects on and off so that you don’t
have to access your laptop screen on the fly?
