@Slak_Jaw
I tried it with 5.3.3.(win11)
-No controller
-Onboard sound card
It’s a little better, but sometimes there’s a bit-crushing sound.
I played for about two hours last night using the MIXON4 and iPad mini, and it was extremely stable.

Thanks for the additional info and video @megamema. I’ll share this with the team and get back to you.
Hi again @megamema, is the bit crushing sound audible somewhere in the latest video you shared? I heard it clearly in your original video, but not in this one. Maybe I missed. Could you please share a time stamp if it’s there? Thanks!
I really appreciate you helping me work through this so diligently. Like everyone else, I consistently find your assistance incredibly helpful.

It’s improved!
I changed the settings and it was fixed!
I wish I could report something like that, but
After using it for a while, it tends to make a noise like bit noise.
When that happens, the CPU usage is usually high.
Is the i5-12 generation already too old to use?
Is your CPU usage high on Windows 11, like over 70%?
If not, then it might just be my problem.
It seems others aren’t having issues with Djay on Windows.
You’re welcome @megamema. Thanks for the time stamp. I don’t experience this on my Windows laptop, but I’m using a pretty powerful gaming laptop. It does seem like this issue is isolated to your setup. I’ll reach out to our engineering team again to see if they have any additional suggestions.
Hi again @megamema, can you please share a screenshot of your djay Settings>Audio Devices window while your DJ controller is connected? Thanks!
Hi @megamema, thanks for the screenshot. Please try increasing the Audio Buffer Size to 256 Frames or 512 Frames and retesting. Let me know if that helps?
Hi,
I understand what you’re saying.
However, I tried changing the buffer size first. Changing it to 512 did not improve the situation.
Even if it did improve the situation, 512 would be fine if you were just connecting normally, but if you use a controller the delay would be too large and you wouldn’t be able to cut in Scratch, so it’s not realistic.
Thanks for checking and confirming @megamema. I will share this with the team and see if they have any other suggestions for you. I’ll report back when I have more news.
I’ve been using ver5.3.31120 for about 30 minutes, and even when using it simultaneously with a browser and putting it under load, there’s no bit-crush sound during music loading, and playback seems normal.
CPU usage spikes momentarily, but the issue might be resolved.
Thanks for the follow up @megamema. This sounds promising. Looking forward to hearing more.
I’m using an i5-1235U. I’m still having trouble with the crackling noise even with 5.4.
After observing, I think Djay is not good at using multi-core processors.
It doesn’t work well with TurboBoost.
Perhaps it’s not compatible with Intel’s power-saving CPUs.
Even with performance-priority settings, the power-saving CPU’s clock speed is generally low, around 1 GHz.
Playing one track is fine, but when loading two tracks, TurboBoost kicks in and the clock speed rises to the 3 GHz range.
This is when the crackling noise occurs.
I’m not sure if Djay is bad at multi-core processing or if Intel TurboBoost is causing the problem.
Since Traktor, Serato, and Live all work fine, I think it’s a Djay issue.
It’s an older processor, but I didn’t have any problems using it on a desktop PC with a Core i7-10700KF.
I have to say, it’s tough to run Djay on a power-saving CPU.
Hi @megamema, try disabling Bluetooth and WiFi on your laptop. Also, try turning Key Lock off for each deck in djay.
I tried it, but there was no improvement. It’s disappointing. The i5-1235U has a base clock of 1.3GHz (maximum 4.4GHz), so I’m giving up thinking that this might be the cause.
For some reason, the CPU clock decreases when loading the truck.
Hi @megamema, we believe we may have discovered the source of the issue. As a temporary workaround, please try setting the Audio Buffer Size to 256 frames and let me know if that helps. Thanks!
I tried Djay 5.42 for about 60 minutes.
I was able to use it comfortably without experiencing the frequent bit-crushing noise that had been occurring until now.
I didn’t change any particular settings.
I didn’t change the recommended audio buffer from 256f.
I didn’t change anything in my PC environment either.
I connected the MIXON4 using a USB 2.0 cable with a ferrite core to a cheap USB 3.1 hub.
The WIFI is also ON, and Bluetooth is ON as well.
I am outputting to a 34-inch monitor via HDMI.
Did something change with Djay 5.42?
Hi @megamema, thanks for confirming. Yes, we made some improvements in 5.4.2. I guess I missed sharing it here.
It has completely improved to 5.42. There are no bit crash noises that occurred when using 4 tracks + browser in 5.3 with 64f. There are also no crashes with the controller. I’m able to enjoy playing comfortably for the first time in a while.
That’s great to hear. Thanks for the follow up @megamema
