Dear Algoriddim Support Team,
I am a loyal user of Djay Pro. I am writing to report an issue I am currently experiencing in version 5.3 when loading tracks.
Issue Description:
When loading tracks while browsing in Djay Pro 5.3, a crackling noise, similar to a bitcrush effect, occurs. This phenomenon can persist temporarily even after the track has finished loading.
Detailed Circumstances:
- Djay Pro Version: 5.3
- Previous Version: This issue did not occur in version 5.1.
- Controller: I am using a Reloop MIXON4. However, to rule out a hardware issue, I have also tested with other controllers (Hercules Starlight, Traktor S2), and the same behavior occurs.
- Audio Source: This issue happens not only with streaming audio from Apple Music but also with locally stored audio files.
- PC Specs:
Operating System: Windows 11
CPU: Intel Core i5-1235U
RAM: 16GB
Storage: SSD (Gen3) 512GB
My PC generally runs without issues under normal usage.
- CPU Usage: When checking the PC’s Task Manager, I have confirmed that the CPU usage reaches 100% when a track is being loaded. I believe this high load is the cause of the noise.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
So far, I have tried adjusting the audio buffer size and sample rate in the Djay Pro settings, checked background processes on my PC, reinstalled Djay Pro, and updated my drivers, but the issue persists.
Questions and Request:
I suspect that this problem is a specific bug in Djay Pro 5.3. I would greatly appreciate it if you could investigate the cause of the abnormal CPU usage and the accompanying noise during track loading and provide a solution.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
Hi @megamema, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this. Thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. This is very helpful. Sounds like you have already tried the troubleshooting steps I would normally recommend. I’m going to pass this onto our engineering team to see if they can replicate this issue and offer any suggestions. In the meantime, could you please try to capture and share a short video of the issue? Thanks!
Is the extremely high CPU usage I’m experiencing when loading tracks in the Windows version of Djay Pro 5.3.x a problem specific to my setup? The noise issue I’m encountering also seems to occur when the CPU usage hits 100% and I perform some action. Therefore, I’d like to know if this extremely high CPU usage is a problem with my individual environment or not. I’m wondering if others are not having this issue.
Hi @megamema, could you please specify what you mean by “browsing”? Is it maybe “track loading while turning the browse knob”, or “loading a track from search result”? Thanks!
Sorry, I used English incorrectly.
Browsing = Using the Chrome browser
For example, when you start the Chrome browser and practice while watching a YouTube tutorial.
When you find and load the song you want, the song played on the current deck will have a noisy playback sound like it has been bit-crushed.
I tried Djay 5.3 and then Traktor 4.2 under the same conditions.
Thanks for the clarification and video @megamema
@megamema This must be related to your setup. I have done the same test here and cannot reproduce your problem.

@ MichaFalki Thank you for trying it.
It’s helpful to hear about other people’s situations with the same version.
I realized that the problem was probably caused by my PC environment.
But now I don’t know how to solve the problem and I’m stuck.
In a different environment, I can think of
- Japanese version of Djay
- I use Google IME
That’s all I can think of
No errors on SSD or memory, no problem with remaining space on C drive
Hmm, this is tricky
Hi @megamema, could you please capture a memory dump file from Task Manager taken at a time when the issue is occurring? Thanks.
I have sent the file you requested.

Hi @megamema,
I have never seen anything like your case. Traktor runs without any problems. It’s very strange. Have you tried using the sound card on your PC? Just one try.
I also have the impression that the track in DJay fluctuates in pitch. Or is that how it’s supposed to be?
Can you make a video and set the task manager to processes while you load a track and let another track play in the other deck?
I would be interested to know what else happens.
@MichaFalki
When I take a screen capture, the load is very high, and Djay definitely behaves abnormally, just like in the previous video.
Only Djay behaves abnormally. There are no problems with other software.
This is also the case when I have sites like YouTube open in my browser.
The following is a textual description of the situation in which it was used without screen capture:
When using Djay standalone with a controller-less onboard sound card (WDM):
CPU usage is typically around 20%.
When performing any operation, it spikes to around 50%.
When loading a song, it momentarily jumps to about 90%.
It seems that if the CPU usage never exceeds 100%, there’s no choppiness or noise.
However, once it goes above 100%, even if the CPU usage drops back down to 70% afterward, the choppiness and noise become so severe that DJing becomes difficult.
If you check with a performance monitor, you should be able to see the CPU usage momentarily reaching 100%.
So you also have problems when you watch YouTube videos?
Do you have a way to install another SSD?
If so, I would set up the system again and then test it again.
That would be the easiest way to check whether something is wrong with your Windows installation.
@MichaFalki
Thank you for your cooperation. You’ve given me a hint that the issue might be environment-related. As shown in the video, I don’t feel any particular problems when I’m not using Djay.
I can run Traktor and Ableton Live simultaneously while watching YouTube without any issues. When I’m not using Djay, my device is incredibly comfortable to use.
These problems started happening after Djay 5.3 was released.
Trying it on a different PC isn’t a bad idea, but honestly, it’s a hassle. Since it works fine on my iPad, I might just stick with that and avoid the Windows version altogether.
In addition, in order to use it as a PC dedicated to DTM, I purchased a new SSD and performed a clean install of WIN11 in May 2024.
Of course, it could also be a bug in DJay that only occurs in a certain environment.
It seems that nobody has reported such a problem so far.
Perhaps the development team at algoriddim will find something in the dump.
And sorry I can’t help any further.
@MichaFalki
I appreciate your help.
If I had to mention one thing, it would be that your Djay environment has a nice, clean number of songs and playlists.
In my Djay environment, I have about 9,000 songs locally,30playlist
about 10,000 songs on Apple Music, and about 50 playlists. I put them in the library and have them loaded.
It’s not a lot, but I think that might have something to do with it.
Thanks for the additional information @megamema. I’ve shared this with engineering.
Hi again @megamema, can you please update to the latest Windows version that was released yesterday and let me know if you still experience this issue?
Unfortunately the dump file didn’t show anything out of the ordinary. If the new update doesn’t help, can you please try reproducing the issue without a controller being attached to the PC? Thanks!
