Hey. I would like to revive this topic since Numark NS4FX still doesn’t support additional pad modes. Not being able to utilize the full specs of the device is kinda annoying.
I have both Platinum FX and NS4FX. and for some reason Djay pro doesn’t utilize SHIFT button as a MIDI input. So I can’t remap myself. Yet I can do this mapping in VirtualDJ, MIXXX and Serato Pro.
I use m1 macbook air with tahoe and Djay 5.6.4.
Hi @tersbiradam, if the SHIFT button is not already mapped by default, you should be able to map it yourself if the hardware sends MIDI messages for this button. You can test if it is already mapped by pressing the Shift button while in the MIDI Learn tool. If nothing happens when you press Shift while in the MIDI Learn tool, please try pressing Shift+ a button on the hardware that is already mapped. For example, Shift+Play. Let me know if pressing Shift+Play results in the same MIDI message as just pressing Play on its own.
Here is when I press shift while using Djay Pro. As you can see pressing only SHIFT don’t picked up by Djay pro. Yet pressing SHIFT+a button works as expected. Thus remapping and adding additional pad modes manually impossible.
Pressing only SHIFT in VirtualDJ. As you can see It registers as a SHIFT function.
Pressing only SHIFT in Mixxx. Same as VirtualDJ. Sends a data. I am not sure If it is a MIDI data but I can map SHIFT button a function I like.
I didn’t try Serato DJ Pro because this device developed that software in mind so I imagine works as expected in Serato DJ Pro.
I also have Platinum FX which I will sell soon and also doesn’t have the additional pad modes. Both Numark devices’ some features doesn’t work properly in Djay Pro for some reason.
For example when FX active that spesific FX button blinks in different softwares but in Djay Pro nothing happens.
When you remap FX buttons to different functions HPF and ECHO buttons always recalls HPF and ECHO with remaped functions. In Mixxx Instead of having only 1 FX at one time I can arm FX1, FX2, FX3 simultaneously for Deck1 and/or Deck2 since there are 6 total FX buttons. And With paddles I can turn on them and have different FX’s at the same time. But in Djay Pro first button of the rows always reverts back even some other FX is selected.
Then there are also annoying Fader Cuts thing which is a firmware spesific I know but both VirtualDJ and Mixxx has a way to bypass it.
I can live with the most things but not being able to utilise second layer pad modes is very annoying.
Hi again @tersbiradam, thanks for the videos. I have moved this to it’s own topic. I have also shared this with our hardware engineering team for review. I’ll report back when I hear from them…
