OneLibrary USB Synchronization Manager

The new One Library export feature in Algoriddim djay is a significant step forward. The ability to export playlists directly to a USB flash drive makes standalone workflows more practical. However, a critical component is missing: a true synchronization manager for updating existing USB drives.

Current Limitation

At the moment:

  • Playlists can be exported to a USB drive.

  • There is no way to re-synchronize an already exported drive.

  • Updated playlists in the main library do not automatically update on the USB.

  • Smart playlists cannot be refreshed on the USB without manual re-export.

  • Users must manually track which playlists changed and export them again.

For DJs with large and structured libraries, this creates friction and increases the risk of inconsistencies before gigs.

Comparison to Rekordbox Workflow

In Rekordbox, users can:

  • Maintain a master library on their computer.

  • Use a synchronization manager to sync the entire library or selected playlists.

  • Update playlists at any time.

  • Click one button before a gig to synchronize changes to the USB drive.

  • Keep smart playlists automatically up to date.

This workflow ensures reliability and efficiency, especially for professionals who frequently update their collections.

Suggested Improvement

Implement a USB Synchronization Manager within One Library that allows:

  1. One-click synchronization of selected playlists or full library.

  2. Incremental updates rather than full re-exports.

  3. Automatic updating of smart playlists on connected drives.

  4. Clear visual indicators of sync status.

  5. Conflict handling if playlists were modified externally.

Why This Matters

Without synchronization, the current export feature functions as a one-time copy tool rather than a professional workflow solution. For DJs who regularly update playlists and rely heavily on smart playlists, manual re-exporting becomes impractical.

A true sync feature would:

  • Reduce preparation time before gigs.

  • Increase reliability.

  • Lower the barrier for DJs considering switching fully to Algoriddim.

  • Make One Library competitive with established export ecosystems.

Conclusion

The export feature is a strong foundation. Adding a synchronization manager would transform it into a complete professional solution and remove one of the final obstacles preventing full adoption for USB-based performance workflows.

Thanks for the suggestion @trebbis. Good idea. I’ll share this with our devs for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!

This great and I think this is exactly what DJAY needs for OneLibrary.
