djay version: 5.3
Hardware/controllers used: Pioneer Rev7
Hi everyone,
I’d like to suggest a potential improvement for the way djay interacts with the Pioneer Rev7 in live performance situations.
Scenario:
When a track finishes on the Rev7, the platter continues to spin, even though the audio has stopped. This causes issues when using Sync, because if the other deck is still spinning (even silently), djay continues to treat its beatgrid as active, which can lead to unexpected behavior.
For example:
I let Deck A play out completely, then make a live announcement using the mic. After that, I launch Deck B, but because the platter on Deck A is still spinning, Sync tries to align Deck B with Deck A’s beatgrid — resulting in a sudden BPM jump or misalignment.
Suggestion:
It would be extremely helpful to have an option to automatically stop the platter when the track ends or to allow Sync to ignore decks that have no active audio or have reached the end of the track. This would prevent unwanted sync jumps and make transitions smoother, especially during live performances that include talking between songs.
Note:
I’m aware that turning off Sync or Beatgrid would “fix” this, but I specifically want to continue using Sync and BPM features — they’re essential to my workflow. So this suggestion is aimed at making these features more robust and reliable in real-world DJ situations.
Thanks for considering this — I believe many DJs using motorized controllers like the Rev7 would benefit from this!
Best regards,
Essa
