  1. Overheating and freezing on iPhone 15 Pro Max

Guys, I do some DJing on DDJ-FLX4 using the iPhone 15 Pro Max and I’ve noticed that the iPhone overheats and then the app freezes or only the left side of the console works.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Device Model (ex. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
Version of operating system (ex. iOS 17.3.1):
Version of djay (ex. 5.1.3):
Hardware/controllers used (ex. Reloop Ready):
Hardware Firmware Version:

  1. Is the FLX4 also connected to power or are you running it off the iPhone internal battery?
  2. If connected to power, are you using your original iPhone charger and cable?

I had this happen with a Macbook Air and iPhone at an extremely hot tropical beach wedding. Solved very quickly by borrowing an electric fan and having it blow directly on the laptop and iphone.

(And of course, keep all electronics in the shade, out of direct sunlight.)

Good point. Thanks for sharing @Michael_Wisniewski

Have you recently updated that phone? Like this week?? New updates can take a while to sit in properly.

It’s a very powerful phone. Shouldn’t thermal-throttle and freeze djay.

I have an iphone 11 and it only heats up and thermal-throttle when I am casually airplaying onto my living room apple tv, from djay
