Hi, I use DjayPro with my Macbook Air M2 (Tahoe), sometimes with the Spotify app, along with a Denon MC6000MK2 controller. Unfortunately, if Spotify is playing (maybe in the pre-set mode), when I press Play/Cue in DjayPro, the music stops in Spotify too. Does this happen to anyone else? How can I avoid this?
In Spotify a single account is only allowed to play on a single device and a single app at the same time. This is probably causing the issue: When you start, load or cue a song in Djay, it will automatically stop playing in the Spotify app. When you want this to work you might need a Spotify family account, or two Spotify account. Or play from another source, like local files, Apple music, Tidal etc
Hi @Scoop, @EwoutdeBoer has this mostly right. Spotify only allows one active playback stream per account — start playback anywhere else and the stream transfers, pausing whatever was playing. djay’s Spotify login counts as its own playback session on your Mac, so it’s subject to the same rule.
What I can’t confirm is whether that session should be grabbing the stream while you’re only playing local files. Worth a quick test: log out of Spotify in djay via Library > Log Out of Spotify, then play a local track with the Spotify app running. If Spotify keeps going, we know djay’s Spotify session is the trigger.
Which djay version are you on? You mentioned it wasn’t happening a few weeks back, so that’d be useful to know. Thanks!
Here I am, last night I tried and DjayPro worked perfectly without turning off Spotify with the background music, it comes to mind that maybe last time I was really using a Spotify track and therefore stopped the app.
Thanks anyway for the quick help, I will keep you updated!
