Playlist Transition & Siri / Apple Intelligence Support

Feature Request: Playlist Transition and One-Tap Shortcuts

I would like to suggest two improvements for djay, especially for DJs performing live.

1. Playlist Transition – One-Tap Playlist Switching

I would like to have a dedicated button that allows DJs to transition smoothly from the currently playing track to a selected playlist.

For example, I would like to assign a button to my “Midnite Lovers Overdubs” playlist.

When I press this button:

  1. The currently playing track continues without interruption.

  2. djay prepares the first track of the selected playlist.

  3. When the current track finishes, djay automatically transitions to the first track of the selected playlist.

  4. Automix handles the transition smoothly, with appropriate tempo and volume adjustments.

  5. Automix continues playing the selected playlist in its original track order.

The key idea is to switch playlists at the next track, without interrupting the currently playing music.

It would also be useful to assign multiple playlists to dedicated transition buttons, allowing DJs to quickly switch between different music styles.

2. Apple Intelligence, App Intents and Custom Shortcuts

I would like djay to support Apple’s App Intents framework and Apple Intelligence to enable deeper integration with the iPhone Shortcuts app.

In particular, I would like to:

  • Create custom one-tap buttons for specific playlist transitions.

  • Place these buttons on the iPhone Home Screen or Lock Screen.

  • Start a Playlist Transition with a single tap.

  • Control Automix and switch playlists through custom Shortcuts.

For DJs performing in clubs and other live environments, physical or on-screen button operation is much more practical than voice commands because of loud music.

Voice control through Siri could be a useful additional option, but one-touch operation should be the priority.

I believe these features would make djay much more practical and intuitive for live DJs, allowing them to change musical styles and playlists smoothly without interrupting their performance.

Thank you for considering this suggestion!

Probably better to split the two items in a separate topic for each. This is easier with reactions from other users, while there is only a single subject. This also helps with voting

Interesting ideas. I never use automix, so the first one is not for me, but I get the idea. If you want voice control, this is probably only usable at home. When extended, it could be very helpful for preparation, like ‘Add track Robin S - Show me love to playlist 90s Dance’

Hi @djgenbu, please separate this into 2 topics. Thanks!
