Hi all,
I’ve been using Djay iOS to build performance playlists with Automix and custom cue points, and I wanted to share a few workflow limitations I’ve run into — and suggest improvements.
My workflow:
- I select the songs I want to play.
- I manually set custom start and end cue points for each track.
- I use the “One Deck” view and sort by “Released” to get a rough chronological order, which helps with flow planning.
Where it breaks down:
-
One Deck is only useful for viewing order (e.g., by “Released”) — you can’t manually rearrange songs from this view.
-
To actually reorder the playlist, I have to:
- Switch to the Looper deck
- Open the Queue pop-out window
- Manually rearrange the tracks
- Re-save the playlist each time I make a change
-
Even more frustrating: One Deck does not honor the custom cue points when playing — it plays from the full track start to finish, instead of from my defined start to end points. This makes it hard to preview how the actual mix will sound.
-
Enable manual reordering of playlists directly in One Deck view.
-
Make One Deck playback follow the user-defined cue points (just like Automix does).
-
Keep playlist order intact when testing Smart Mix transitions.
Has anyone found a smoother workflow? I’d love to hear tips — and I hope the devs might consider streamlining this in a future update.
I have to switch back and forth… I get the impression that this is an simple adjustment of Djay…. But then, I am not a code developer
Thanks!
Kind regards,
Sokolum
Hi @Fermioncool, thanks for the detailed input. Please note that One Deck mode is meant for preparing tracks (adding hot cues, saved loops, start/end points and adjusting beatgrids). It’s not meant for Automix playback or performance. I recommend that you switch to Pro Mode for this and let me know if that helps with your workflow. I hope that helps!
Hi Slak_Jaw,
Thanks for the reply!
It’s about preparing tracks exactly.
However, the core issue still isn’t addressed:
Even in Djay Pro, you can’t re-order tracks in the One Deck view — and if this view is intended for preparing playlists, that’s a serious limitation.
To properly prepare a mix:
- I need to reorder tracks manually as I test transitions and cue points.
- I also need playback to honor my custom start/end (queue) points, otherwise I’m not hearing the actual flow I’ve prepared.
Right now, the process looks like this:
- Use One Deck to view the list (e.g., sorted by “Released”),
- Switch to Looper view,
- Open the pop-out Queue,
- Reorder tracks manually,
- Re-save the playlist — every time I adjust the order.
This is slow and makes experimenting with mix flow very inefficient.
If One Deck is meant for preparation, it really needs:
- Manual reordering capability
- Playback that respects cue points (i doesn’t need automix).
Hope this can be considered for a future update — it would really improve the workflow for DJs building thoughtful sets.
Thanks again!

The reason you cannot reorder the tracks is because you have them sorted by “Released”. They are already ordered how they should be because of this sorting selection. If you want to reorder the songs in the playlist, you must first remove the sorting. Once you do this, you can reorder even in the One Deck Mode without the need to switch to the Looper Mode and open the Queue.

Thank you so much, I was struggling a lot with this, and so simple.
But still it only obey start starting queue point when going to the next track, and doesn’t obey the last queue point, at the One Deck.
You’re welcome @Fermioncool. Happy to help.
Please share screenshots of your Automix Settings>SONG RANGE>Start / End. Make sure you have Use start and end point of song if available turned ON.
Please also make sure you have Maximum song play duration turned OFF
This is not about automix. AutoMix is turned off.
Ot about when you have added “Cue Points” in a track.
See screenshot, it started to play the song at the 1st Cue Point.
Not sure is this is supposed to be happening? Or a setting i have overlooked. I liked it this feature, but then it should also move to the next song at the next Que Point, this is not happening.
@Fermioncool you need to set the special Start Point and End Point for this to work. These are different than hot cues.
Hi @Fermioncool, did the Start and End Automix points end up working for you?
