Pro Tip: Keep Sync Active While Pitching the Inactive Deck on Controller

Pro Tip: Keep Sync Active While Pitching the Inactive Deck

If you’re using a controller (works for me on Pioneer REV7) and find it frustrating that Sync gets deactivated when you adjust the pitch on the inactive deck (e.g. you’re previewing a track or setting it up while the other deck is live), here’s a little Trick to save your workflow:

:wrench: Do this:

  1. Go to your MIDI settings in djay Pro.
  2. Set the Crossfader assignment to “Video Crossfader” instead of the default.

:bullseye: Why this works:

With this setting, Sync will no longer break when you move the pitch fader on a deck that isn’t currently in the mix — even if you’re not in a transition.

:white_check_mark: That means you can:

  • Pitch tracks freely on Deck A or Deck B while staying in SYNC all the time
  • Keep your transitions tight and your workflow smooth

Perfect for preparing tracks or layering next-ups — without losing the beatgrid / sync connection. Give it a try!
