Qualcom Dragon versus AMD Ryzen 7

  • Dear DJay lovers, at two steps of buying a new laptop (after testing IPad, Smartphone Android, 14 inch zenbook Assus of my son - which is to small to read the text) , etc.). Having been ssisted during hours and days by AI to explore different laptops, still hesitating between two or three models. One is an Asus s15 but it is said that the Qualcom Dragon chip has issues with DJay / Reloop Buddy sometimes and for that reason AMD Ryzen 8 cores should be more compatible (also for other mixers…). Is that right, please? Is it allowed to ask about specific models? Like Asus Vivobook 15 or HP 15-fc0100nb…
Do some of you use a 14 inch plugged into a big PC screen?
  • Many thanks and kind greetings, Patrick

Hi @Patrice, both chips will run djay Pro. The app runs natively on Arm64 (Snapdragon) as well as Intel/AMD, and the only requirement we publish is Windows 10 version 21H1 or later — no CPU restriction.

The Snapdragon caveat isn’t djay itself, it’s controller support. Fewer controllers are supported on Windows on Arm because not every manufacturer has shipped Arm drivers yet. So before you buy: open our hardware page, set the filter to Windows on Arm, and review the current list. Note the Reloop Buddy is not currently supported on Arm.

We don’t certify individual laptops. Plenty of people run a small laptop into a larger external screen; hopefully a few of them chime in with what they’re using. You may also want to consider a MacBook Air or larger iPad. I hope that helps!

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
