Dear all, i’m planning to buy the ddj flx4 controller since i want to start learing rekordbox in parallel with djay pro, but i have a few questions that i’m not able to figure out by searching in the internet.
-
does the displayed mode on the screen change when i trigger the dedicated button on the controller? like on the reloop buddy, wher was enough to press twice in order to change the displayed tab on the screen (eg when moving between hot cues, loop and istant fx)
-
from my understanding in other post here, the cfx toggle the fx 2 and fx3 if moved on the right or on the left, but is it possible to change the fx assigned to such slots?
thanks in advance for your replies
Simone
From my experience, on FLX4 you activate FX1 pressing the “RELEASE FX” level/deph for dry/wet and you can change the effect thru the FX select (you can make a favorite list and change between them pressing FX Select (next) and Shift + Fx select (previous).
When the Smart CFX is ON, the CFX knobs (Filter) will activate Fx3 and apply Riser for Hi and Shutter for Low simultaneously with the filter and if you press Shift + Smart CFX this will blink and will activate Hydrant and Landing.
Regarding the display, I didn’t noticed because I tried on iPad but you can designate buttons to toggle tools.
Also, for saved loops you will need to manually assign buttons. And yes, you can toggle between eq or neural mix designating a button or click-in in the app.

Wow that’s a very helpful answer thank you!
can you tell me something about the beat FX switch 1, 2, and 1&2? Do they work properly now or are they still disabled?
The switch is working properly on the iPad and Windows.

Thanks for this @Gabi0110
This all makes me jealous if only I could get my flx 4 to work with my iPad/iphone I’d be all over this also but have had issues for long time now using cable connection to iOS from flx 4 it works perfectly perfectly on my windows laptop midi signal no problem and also not a cable issue as I’ve tried same cables on my Mixtour Pro with iOS devices and no issues so if anyone on this thread has any solutions it would be a massive help I know @Slak_Jaw has tried on this one but I can’t get my head around it as I’m get midi signal when connecting it to laptop
@Gillster11 , I assume that you have a older iPhone/Ipad with a lighting connector? Because on my iPad Pro M1 with usbC works great!
@Slak_Jaw I know all of that because I’m looking a way to emulate the CFX behavior on other midi controller.
Yes I have an older iPad but doesn’t even work with my iPhone 15 which has usb c when connected via cable same cable I use for mixtour it doesn’t read midi signal but does when connected to laptop strange
Hi #Gillster11, I use the FLX4 with my iPhone15 pro and it definetly works. However, I noticed that some USB C cables do not work. I assume these are the ones that can be used for charging only but not for data transmission (my assumption). I have different USB C cables that work both for charging and playing music
Yes I understand all that but recently I purchased a Mixtour Pro and I tried using same cables which I do on my Mixtour Pro which are obviously working on that unit and tried them with my fox 4 and no joy so it’s doesn’t seem to be a cable issue and I can get midi control when flx 4 is plugged into laptop just a really strange one
