Any way to fine adjust the beat grid without multiple mouse clicks? I’d prefer something midi mappable.
Right now my only option seems to be multiple mouse clicks (frustrating compared to Serato) or setting the downbeat on the pre-existing grid (useless when the grid is off by an arbitrary amount eg 1/16)
Thank you.

Hi @chuckles, please see below for the available MIDI mappable commands for adjusting the beatgrid:
That doesn’t solve my problem.
Those all adjust the beatgrid according to existing quarter note intervals. I need granular control at my fingertips, not buried several mouse clicks into an interface. Serato does this natively and easily both with keyboard shortcuts (option-x then enter) and controller buttons.
This is pretty basic stuff for DJ software.
Hi @chuckles, thanks for clarifying. Can you please try to capture a short video of how this works in Serato, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? I want to make sure I accurately communicate this to our dev team. Thanks!
Happy to do when I’ve got a bit of time. Will post when I do.

Hi @chuckles, I’m just following up on this one from a week ago. Have you had a chance to record a short video?
Thanks for the prompt — I’d recorded the video but life got away on me.
I forgot to demonstrate that all of the adjustments I make to the beatgrid in this video can be done on-the-fly while the track is playing. They can all be done without my hands leaving the controller, and/or by using the keyboard but never having to touch a mouse or trackpad. This makes the process a lot more intuitive (in my opinion as a long time DJ and power user) compared to the nested mouse-based adjustment system that djay currently has implemented.
I work with a lot of tracks that have variations in tempo, so djay’s flexible beatgrid system is of interest for me, but I’ve already run into one situation where djay got the location of the downbeat entirely wrong, and not by a nice clean amount like 1 bar, or a quarter note. I couldn’t actually find a way to set the downbeat exactly where I wanted it, so I gave up — but giving up isn’t an option for me with my creative process.
I think at the very least being able to set the downbeat exactly where one wants it would be an excellent start that would negate 95% of the frustration I experienced in the above scenario.
Thanks for the additional info and video @chuckles. This is very helpful. You are able to move the downbeat to wherever you want with djay and with fine control. I’ll use iOS as an example because I don’t have access to a Mac at the moment. I’m pretty sure the process is very similar on macOS though.
While in the Edit Grid section, use the pop-up menu to switch from Anchor to Grid. Here you will have left and right arrows that allow you to move the beatgrid in fine increments. Currently these commands are not MIDI mappable, however, I’ve changed this topic from a Question to a Suggestion and passed this onto the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature.

Hi again @chuckles, please also note that you can use the new Anchors feature to add multiple anchor points to your tracks. This is intended for songs that have a varying BPM where you need to realign the grid at specific downbeats throughout the track.
EDIT: also if you could please share the track ID that our Fluid Beatgrid system didn’t get correctly that would be great. I’d like to pass this onto our engineering team for review.
Hey, that anchors feature is just what the doctor ordered! Thank you and thanks to the team.
I’d still love to see those anchors adjustable via the jogwheels while holding down “adjust” or “slide” on my controller — this could be midi mappable I’m sure.
The track was Song on the Wind by Dub Sutra. Around 40 seconds in things went awry.
Excellent. You’re welcome @chuckles. Glad that helped. Also, thanks for the track ID. I’ve passed this onto the team.
