RANE 70 no BPM detection

  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.4
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): RANE SEVENTY ATRAK EDITION

Summary of the issue:

I don’t have BPM detection anymore, when I load up a song the BPM of the song on the other channel pass to 120 by default and I can’t change it, so for echo transition particularly it’s a mess…
Please help, how can I go back to the previous version ? I did the update on both my Mac and IPhone so now I’m really in trouble if you can’t fix this…

How to reproduce the issue:
Everytime you load a song on one side the bpm on the other side goes to 120, and it’s impossible to change it …

Hi @daveduke, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Thanks for the details about the issue and your setup - this is very helpful.

  1. The only way to roll back to a previous djay version is via a full system backup like Time Machine.
  2. Please try updating your RANE 70 firmware and retesting.
  3. On your iPhone, you can also try a Forced Restart. Please close djay and follow this procedure: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

Sorry to hear that, but Time Machine is not helpful as I’m not using it and there is no firmware updates available for the Rane Seventy Atrak…
So the issue is coming from your new version 5.4, everything was fine 2 hours ago before I updates the software !!
So please offer me others solutions or at least tell me that the development team will do what’s necessary to fix this

Sorry that didn’t help. If you don’t have a Time Machine backup there is no other way to rollback. I have already passed this onto our hardware team for review.

The only other thing I can suggest is to try a fresh djay install. I recommend that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay. You can find the files above in the following locations:

iOS: using the Files App, navigate to Locations->On My iPhone/iPad->djay->User Data

macOS: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912211-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-playlists-cue-points-and-other-data-on-my-Mac

Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

I will try a fresh install even though I don’t think it will change anything.
I hope the hardware team will find a solution because the software will become difficult to use with Rane gear and I might have to switch software…
And I’m not the only Rane user so probably a lot of people are concerned
