Hi all,

Love the software and forum, just struggled with this for a while and not seen any other posts about it.

Rane Performer

FW 1.3.0.13

2024 MacBook Pro 16”

Apple M4 max

48Gb memory

Sequoia 15.6

Djay Pro - Version 5.4

The issue is with DJay Pro’s built in manual effects.
They work perfectly in standalone, but many effects don’t work when the Performer hardware is connected.

It seems to be specific effects - complexer always works in different effects slots. Gate and flange don’t work at all.

It is not related to stem split effects, not the effects controls on the performer.

I have followed the helpful suggestions on similar posts, tried different cables, sockets, usb an and b on the performer etc. I feel like it’s software related but open to ideas.

I noticed that the video didn’t look right too but wasn’t sure how to resolve
I’ll try reposting the link again otherwise you could look at the text version and use the link there

I can see the same problem again - it is a Dropbox link that works, but when I paste it here it changes to a video 0s long - any suggestions how I can share the video?

Thanks @SilentPaul, that worked.

This controller uses External Mixer Mode with a digital FX loop to allow Post Fader FX inside djay. However, this FX loop is only active when an FX is activated physically on the hardware (i.e. a lever “pulled”). This means that activating post fader FX from the djay UI using touchscreen/mouse/keyboard won’t work.

Workarounds:

  • Set FX to Pre-Fader in djay Settings>Sound
  • Operate FX exclusively from hardware

That is exactly the information I needed.

You could shout about this as it creates something totally unique in DJ equipment as far as I’m aware - up to 6 effects per channel.

Using the Rane internal channel fx + main fx; using instant fx (assigned to pads) plus these 3 channel fx.

I need to do a little midi remapping but that is mind blowing :raising_hands:

@Slak_Jaw I found one challenge in that the rane fx paddles always turn the DJay effects off when pressed - even if midi mapped to something else.

It seems impossible to turn this off, which means when you activate a rane fx it deactivates all the DJay fx :person_facepalming:which have to be switched back on manually

Hi @SilentPaul, yes, FX paddles are handled internally because they are a bit too complex for regular MIDI mapping. They emit some secondary MIDI messages you can map to but the primary behaviour is hard coded.

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

  • On board effects for Rane Performer stems accapella/instrumental light does not stay correct when changing effects.

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Play a song and select accapella button on RP and select an onboard RP effect using effect button.

  2. Switch to another RP effect using another RP effect button. The song is still in accapella, but the accapella light on the RP goes off- which is in correct.

  3. Please see the video: Effect 1 is Echo Out, Effect 2 is Reverb, Effect 3 is Echo, Effect 4 is Stutter out

C) EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • The accapella light should not change by just selecting a new the RP onboard. The audio is still in accapella although the accapella light is changing.

D) ACTUAL RESULTS:

  • The RP accapella light is changing when the RP effect is changed

Changing the FX setting to pre-fader does not fix the problem. I don’t want to activate the accapella/instrumenal stems from DJ Pro. I want to activate the stems from the Rane Performer. Please my video.

@Slak_Jaw , any thoughts on the Rane Performer/Djay Pro issue that I highlighted? Has anyone solved this one?

Hi again @chisolmre01, our hardware team was not able to reproduce this issue.

Can you please confirm if you are using the (built-in) RANE Performer MIDI Mapping or a custom edit?

Hi. I am using the built in RP mapping. No additional mappings - again, this issue is with the RP on board effects. The Djay Pro effects using the RP does not have this issue.

Hi again @chisolmre01, our team was finally able to reproduce this today. They are working on a fix which should be included in an upcoming update (likely 5.6.3). Thanks!
