Rekordbox XML native integration for track metadata (cues, loops, etc)

Hi, as a windows user we can’t use great 3rd party tools like DJCU. Also tools like Mixo copy rekordbox data into the MP3 tags on my laptop hard drive resulting in causing my backup software (Backblaze) to go crazy with 100gb updates each time I copy meta tags from rekordbox to serato for import into Djay.

Feature request: using the ‘share files’ feature in iTunes, allow users to upload their rekordbox.xml file to Djay iOS. Then add an option for users to use the rekordbox.xml file to overwrite their Djay meta tags (cues, loops, key).

This would be a killer feature as I use rekordbox for my primary library management and preparation tool because I frequently have to play on CDJs at clubs. However I prefer to use Djay when doing solo gigs with my own rig.

I’m happy to volunteer my rekordbox xml to Djay devs for testing and development.

Thank you for considering this feature.

Thanks for the suggestion @craig3! Good idea. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!

The cues and loops are intimately tied to the beatgrid. I assume you want that imported too and forego the, IMHO. better djay Pro Fluid Beatgrids™.

I agree the Djay grids are better.

I feel like quantize set to 1 beat be enough to enable consistency on the beat when triggering cues and loops. That’s how it is today when I use Mixo to transfer the cues from rekordbox to Serato via meta tags before import to Djay. The cues are slightly off the grid, but good enough and with quantize the track snaps to the grid almost immediately after triggering it.

The goal is to simplify the workflow and cut out extra steps like using Mixo. Today this also alters all my meta tags and then causes my hard drive backups to go bonkers because any change in any file causes the backup process (Backblaze and windows backup) to run a new backup of all my files (11k tracks).

Yes would love to see this too. Sadly Rekordbox is the club standard used on CDJs. VDJ natively reads the Rekordbox library on PC/Mac. Even Denon (InMusic) reads Rekordbox formatted USBs knowing that 100% of club DJs will be using Rekordbox USB Sticks.

In order for Djay to gain momentum with club DJs, I think Rekordbox compatibility should be the biggest focus. While VR/AR stuff is cool, it isn’t whats going to make working DJs switch to DJay. Most people are fed up with Pioneer/AlphaTheta but are held captive by the ecosystem and operability with CDJs.

I’d love to see a day when my rekordbox library is on my iphone and I can plug my iphone right into a CDJ2000 or CDJ3000 and go. I’m sure Laidback Luke would agree!

In order for Djay Pro 5 to become a replacement for Rekordbox, it has yet to surpass Serato, VirtualDJ, Traktor Pro, and Engine DJ.

This will definitely not happen in the next 10 years.

It doesn’t need to be a replacement for Rekordbox. Djay Pro need to be better and the first thing you need to do is to make the good library management on iOS and computer. Library can be simply transferred from computer to iOS devices.

There should be full synchronization (not only iCloud) of what I do on my computer and then continue to do on the way to the club on my iPhone or iPad, which I connect in the club to CDJ-2000 NXS2 and play a beautiful set.

The idea is to replace the laptop with the iPhone and iPad. At home you work on your laptop and computer, but in the clubs you take your phone and play great sets without any problems.

Open Rekordbox with a library of 6000 tracks in one playlist and Djay Pro 5. Try to scroll through the tracks, enter a track, etc. Rekordbox works 100 times faster. More information on the screen, more controls and possibilities to work on your mix. Neural Mix? 80% of club DJs don’t need it.

I love Neural Mix. I’m a Djay Pro fan, but I love it and I hate it.

Sadly I have to agree. I am in awe at how far Djay has come and love some of the cutting edge featuers like real time neural mix, Crossfader FX, etc and the long list of amazing soudned beat-sync’d effects.

But, i don’t see it as a replacement for Serato or Rekordbox. Most DJs HATE rekordbox because it’s big, bloated and a resource hog. Djay is elegately designed, works on old hardware without a sweat. The issue is library management is very basic. I think most DJ would even be fine organizing and managing on Rekordbox and then have Djay natively work with Rekordbox’s XML like VDJ.

The other thing is that the lack of full screen support makes it very limited. I spent a few hours playing today on a DDJ-FLX10 and it’s hard to go from a screen that shows waveforms, key, BPM upcoming hotcues, Active/Inactive deck, which STEM is activated to just a laggy track marker.

I know this isn’t Algoriddm’s fault, but lack of full 100% hardware compatibility incl. screens will hold back progress.

I really want Algoriddm to success and become the club standard and hope the next update will fix things like this, related tracks, etc. Until then, it’s good for a beginner/hobbyist wishing to pass their time while on the subway.

For organizing libraries, it is better to use Lexicon dj than Rekordbox.

Things are complicated in the world of DJ controllers. Some work better with Serato, some work better with Rekordbox or Traktor.
I have a Mixtour Pro and it works great with Djay Pro. I have Hercules Inpuls 500 and it works amazingly with DJUCED and much worse with Djay Pro.

If you want to work in Rekordbox you buy a controller for RB if you want to work in Serato you buy a controller for SR etc. There will always be compromises, but..

But what sets Djay Pro apart from everyone else is that they have an awesome iOS app and that’s their main competitive advantage.
Need to build on that and make the transition from PC to iOS & Android easy and convenient.
