If I use an external app to edit a track’s metadata…how do I force djay to reload the track?
I know I can edit tags within djay but sometimes I need to perform mass-editing in the app I use for that (YATE) so it would be good to know how to force those changes and refresh djay.
It turns out that the tracks seem to auto-update themselves without any kind of interraction. I added a test comment to a few random tracks, changed artwork in a few others and they just updated, not instantly mind you, took a few minutes, but they did update.
What works for me (and I have also read in another thread) is to remove the song from my collection and re-import from DJAY PRO… it’s a nuisance, but it works.
I don’t use Apple Music to manage my library, which also suggested to disable the option to synchronize the Apple music folder.
No need to force it. It will auto-update on next launch. And you don’t even have to load track on deck inorder to show changes (like in serato), but the changes will show instantly at launch.
This is for guys who use “My collections” tab.
If you use “Local Music” tab and organise tracks via Music app, the tags will NOT show unless you play the track in Music app first, then coz then the Music app will have to update its database with the new tags before informing djay to follow suite.
This is one of the reasons I left using music app to organise playlists.

In my case, metadata is NOT auto updating when edited outside of Djjay (using Yate). Metadata changes are there (comments) in all other programs. Metadata changes are not displayed by Djay or in Djay Library when looking at it with Lexicon or One Tagger.
Several days, computer restarts etc and no update. Also no effect from re-analyze and refresh
I’ll be honest, it is very random. I also use YATE and if I leave djay open, none of the metadata updates seem to update. If I close djay down and re-open..the meta updates are “sometimes” in there…All it needs really is a “refresh” option on selected tracks to it re-reads the new data like you have in rekordbox.
By default, Yate writes ID3 v2.4. Tags read fine for new imports. Issue is tags edited with outside editor while tracks are in Djay. I will give kid3 a try.
I think this thread links perfectly with mine… I use Mp3tag, but what other programs do you use to edit metadata outside of DJAY PRO? I don’t want to rely on just that.
