- Device model (iPad Air 2024):
- Version of operating system (latest ios):
- Version of djay (e.g. 5.3):
- Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 4):
Your question:
Upon update to 5.3 my Mixon 4 has stopped working. DJAY seems to recognise the decks as a midi controller and in midi settings it looks like mapping is okay but none of the buttons, pads, knobs etc on the Mixon 4 are doing anything (play not lit up when you load a track etc).
Anyone have any ideas?
Hi @Galaxy_Wolf_In_Space, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.
Please disconnect your Mixon 4 from your iPad, close djay and follow the procedure linked below to perform a Forced Restart of your iOS device:
- iPhone: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (IE)
- iPad: Force restart iPad - Apple Support (IE)
After rebooting, reconnect your Mixon 4 to your iPad and retest. If it is still not working, can you please confirm if you are using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or a custom edit?
Please also share screenshots of your djay Settings>Audio Devices and Settings>MIDI Devices. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for your response. Yeah that hasn’t work. I’ve updated iOS, deleted and reloaded DJAY and none of these have worked.
When I plug it in I get the message in the picture but nothing else happens.
Reinstalling DJAY also reset midi settings so I’m using the original mappings that come with the software.
Tried different cables. Really can’t think what else it can be from my perspective except some kind of bug in the software
Also… Just to add that I’ve tried it with a different iPad and it doesn’t work. Also checked Mixon 4 firmware was the latest.
Just tried it. No issues over here. My iPad was still on 5.2.x but after updating it worked just like before.

Thanks for all of the extra info @Galaxy_Wolf_In_Space.
- How exactly are you connecting your iPad to the Mixon 4? Are you using any adapters or hubs for example?
a. Are you connected to the special iOS DIN socket on the back or the USB-B socket? Please ensure that you do not have cables plugged into both of these sockets at the same time.
- Is your iPad also connected to power and charging normally when connected to the Mixon 4?
- Is the Mixon 4 connected to power using the supplied adapter or are you trying to run it off USB bus power?
Hey, okay I figured out the problem based on those checks. The wrong power adapter had been plugged in so it appeared to be working (but obviously not connecting) but was obviously not doing something it needed to.
Thanks for all of your help! It was frying my brain as to what was happening.
