Restore Analyzed - bulk beatgrid re-analysis option?

M1 Air
MacOS 5.3.1
Djay 5.2.9
Rane One

What exactly does this feature do? In any case, how can I perform it on my entire library, as opposed to using it as a deck command?

Hi @Fangio, are you referring to “Save and restore manually set gain values”?

Or perhaps you are talking about the Beatgrid or BPM?

If neither of these, please confirm with a screenshot. Thanks!

Hey,

Tried to reply by email, but just in case, it’s top toolbar → deck 1 → bpm → restore analyzed. I need to do this in bulk across my entire library.

Thanks!

Hi @Fangio, please note that the email support team and community support teams are different.

  1. “Restore Analyzed” resets the BPM for the song to it’s originally analyzed BPM - assuming you edited it.
  2. There is no batch option for this specific command to perform it on your entire library.
  3. However, you can Shift+Select multiple songs within the Library View then R-Click and select “Analyze”. This will completely re-analyze all of the selected songs which will have a similar effect to “Restore Analyzed”. I hope that helps!

Hello,

Sorry, I should clarify. I have used a third party library management app that has unfortunately modified all my beatgrids. Analyzing tracks as you suggested does not fix the issue, only “restore analyzed.” My djay library backups do not go far back enough in advance to reset the problem. I therefore must be able to execute this action across my entire library, or otherwise reset all my beatgrids in bulk. You can turn this into a feature request I guess if you want, though I would also love to be connected to someone on the technical team if there is a quick fix to this.

Thank you!

Hi @Fangio, thanks for the additional info regarding the 3rd party management app - I suspect this may be a key piece of the puzzle. Please confirm the name of this app. Regardless, the R-Click>Analyze should force a re-analysis.

  1. Please confirm that you are using the R-Click>Analyze option and NOT the dropdown menu at the top of the playlist with Analyze Songs. These 2 options are slightly different.
  2. Let’s try a test on a smaller selection of songs. Shift+Select 10 songs then R-Click>Analyze.
  3. When the analysis is complete, please close djay and reboot your Mac. Let me know if that works or not.
  4. If that doesn’t work, please upload your djaymedialibrary database file to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the file in a DM to me.
    a. On macOS it can be found in ~/Music>djay.

Thanks!

Lexicon (beta) is the software.

Right click analyze does not fix my beatgrids, only Deck 1/2 → BPM → Restore Analyzed.

I need to perform this logic across my entire library, whether through an official menu action (I don’t see why it can’t be exposed) or a more manual workaround.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the additional info @Fangio. I’ve shared this with engineering. I’ll let you know what they say as soon as I hear back. Thanks!

Thank you. If it’s easier for them, they could perhaps quickly work their magic on the database file I sent to you (assuming this is possible) and then give it back.

Hi again @Fangio. I spoke with engineering and this is what they had to say. It sounds like Lexicon writes the metadata as “user edits” into our database, which is what the “restore” action in the BPM popup deletes. Re-analyzing tracks does not override user data. We currently don’t have a way to reset user edits on multiple tracks.

They can’t even do it on their end? That is strange, and very disappointing. I would ask to turn this into a feature request, but I doubt it would get implemented from the sounds of it. So looks like I will need to ask lexicon to fix it on their end (fair enough).

Hi again @Fangio, I checked with engineering and they cannot do this on their end. They recommend that you reach out to Lexicon for a solution. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
