REV7 Jogwheel Waveforms missing (macOS)

I am having an issue where DJAY PRO is not loading the wave forms to my Pioneer DDJ-REV 7 platters. Sometimes they come latter sometime not at all. Can anyone help me out on this? Here are the details:

  • The issue occurs with both local music files and TIDAL / SPOTIFY streaming, so it does not appear to be source-specific.

  • The music never stops or glitches—only the large moving waveform disappears.

  • The small overview waveform remains visible, and the track continues playing normally.

  • This occurs while using a Pioneer DDJ-REV7 connected to my MacBook Pro.

To troubleshoot, I checked Activity Monitor:

  • Memory Pressure is green.

  • Swap Used is 0 bytes.

  • The Mac has 36 GB of RAM, so it does not appear to be a memory issue.

  • I did notice that WindowServer CPU usage is nearly as high as djay Pro itself, which made me wonder if this could be related to waveform rendering or graphics acceleration.

Could you please let me know:

  1. Is this a known issue?

  2. Are there any recommended settings or troubleshooting steps?

  3. Is there any diagnostic logging I can enable to help identify the cause?

This is a critical issue for live performance, so I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide. I have a gig tonight! 😬

Thank you!

Hi @CALI68, thanks for the description of the issue. As @MichaFalki suggested, please share the complete details for your setup.

Device Model (ex. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
Version of operating system (ex. iOS 17.3.1):
Version of djay (ex. 5.1.3):

Hardware Firmware Version:

  1. Since this sounds repeatable, can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening?
  2. Have you installed the latest REV7 firmware and drivers from the Pioneer website?
  3. How exactly are you connecting the REV7 to your device? Any USB Hubs or Adapters?

Thanks for sharing @Kevnice

I believe this issue began immediately after updating djay Pro through the Automatic Mac App Store yesterday. Prior to the update, I had never experienced this behavior. Since updating, the waveform inside the DDJ-REV7 jog wheel displays often remains blank for approximately 20–30 seconds after loading a track, even though the main waveform on the Mac appears instantly and playback is completely normal.

I am running a 2024 MAcbook Pro with the latest OS: Tahoe 26.5.1
The Version of Djay Pro is the latest: 5.6.6

Pioneer DDJ REV 7 with latest software update.

Thank you for the response, I have the latest installed…it has been working perfectly up until yesterday.

All requested info has been provided. Thank you!!

Hi @CALI68, thanks for the additional and videos. Our hardware team is investigating further to confirm if they can reproduce this internally. I’ll report back when I have more news. Also, I confirmed with our support team that you also submitted an official support ticket. To avoid duplication of reporting and questions, I’m going to let the support team take it from here. Thanks!

Thanks!

You’re welcome @CALI68. Happy to help!

Yes, Same issue with ny DDJ rev7 too even the grid is missing.

It’s been over 10 days now and still no resolution yet I have been told the engineers are working on it

Hi @ThunderZzz and @CALI68, our engineering team has identified the issue and is working on a fix which should be included in an upcoming update (likely 5.6.8). Thanks!
