YOUR SUGGESTION:
- Hello Algoriddim Team and Community,
I would like to submit a feature request for a future update to djay Pro: the addition of assignable MIDI commands and keyboard shortcuts for toggling between vertical and horizontal waveform orientations.
Currently, switching waveform layouts requires navigating the UI drop-down menu with a mouse or trackpad. Adding this as an assignable command would significantly improve workflow efficiency, particularly regarding screen real estate and library management.
Why this feature is highly beneficial:
-
Optimized Library Browsing: Vertical waveform mode drastically reduces the vertical footprint of the decks, maximizing the screen space available to browse playlists and track libraries.
-
Dynamic Set Performance: A dedicated MIDI or keyboard toggle would allow DJs to quickly switch to vertical mode when deep-diving into their library to select the next track, and then instantly snap back to a wide horizontal view when precise visual beat-matching or cue-point alignment is required.
-
Controller Integration: Allowing users to map this toggle to an unused button on their physical DJ controller would create a much more seamless, hands-on experience without needing to touch the computer mouse mid-set.
Given how deeply customizable djay Pro’s MIDI mapping system already is, adding waveform orientation to the list of mapable actions would be a massive quality-of-life improvement for performance DJs managing large music catalogs on a single screen.
Thank you for your time, your hard work on the platform, and for considering this request!
