Slow song loading after long usage?

I noticed the lagging started happening after I installed the 5.2.1 update.

It usually happens after I’ve been playing nonstop for 1.5-2hrs. It’s definitely not an network issue because it’s still happening whether or not Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is on or off.

I’ve never had any issues with DJay in all of the years of using the software. The main issue is extremely slow song loading, lagging with all the cues, knobs, faders, etc.

Device model: 2019 MacBook Pro, 16-Inch (16GB RAM / 1TB SSD)

Version of operating system: macOS 14.6.1

Version(s) of djay: 5.2.1 - 5.2.3

Hardware/controllers used: DDJ-800, XDJ-XZ, DDJ-SR2, DDJ-SX2, Numark MixTrack Pro FX

Here is a video of what is happening:

Hi @TheLarryWilson,

Thanks for sharing your video of the issue!

The next time djay is playing, and you are recording for that 1.5-2 hours just like in the video provided, could you open the Mac app “Activity Monitor” and take a screenshot of the memory and CPU tabs while highlighting djay?

It should look something like what is shown in my screenshots below. Thanks!

Hi @TheLarryWilson,

Our engineering team has asked if you could collect a sample from djay Pro via the Activity Monitor app by following the steps below.

  1. Launch djay Pro and wait until the beachball appears.
  2. Launch the Activity Monitor app.
  3. Click on the djay app under “Process Name.”
  4. Click on the icon with three dots next to the CPU tab.
  5. Click the “Sample” button.
  6. Click “Save…” in the top right and share the file with us via the link below with the description title "ATTN NATHANIEL: TheLarryWilson - Slow song loading after long usage (Community)

Same here. I start djay pro and CPU usage is a about 100% - without loading any song. After few hours it slows down when loading songs 150% CPU usage. Songs are load local and streaming (apple and tidal). If I switched Wi-Fi off and on again this will, help for the next 1-2 hours and Song loading will be faster.

I have a Macbook pro with m1 16gb ram. Rane four controller. I tried MacOs 14 and 15.
Maybe it will only happen if you connect a controller?

Hi @TheLarryWilson,

I just wanted to let you know that our engineering team is still looking into the cause of this issue.

@djsepp, could you share any additional information, videos, screenshots, etc., about what you are also seeing?

Thanks!

Hi. Yestrerday i had massive Problems with very slow loading, also the Buttons on my Rane4 worked “laggy”. I think it is a Problem with Streaming, also if you dont use a streamed Song. If i am logged in in Apple Music & Tidal at the same Time - the CPU Usage goes from 80% to 170 and more. If i log out (or kill Wifi Connection) it reduce. Maybe Djay pro do something in Background, if i am logged in? I will try to do a Video next Time.
