Small bugs with FLX4 and Windows 10

  • Device model: Desktop PC, Ryzen 7 3800X, 32 GB RAM
  • Version of operating system: Windows 10, build 19045.5247
  • Version of djay: 5.2.11033.0
  • Hardware/controllers used: DDJ-FLX4

Summary of the issue:
Generally happy with djay but wanted to report a few bugs that would enhance my experience.

1- My controller stays plugged into my PC but when I launch djay Pro for the first time I have to unplug / replug for it to be recognized by the software. I don’t need to do this if I close and reopen djay without shutting down the computer.
2- I route audio through an audio interface (Audient id22) and my audio settings are never saved when I exit the program, meaning I have to set them up again everytime I want to use djay.
3- The cue mix encoder isn’t recognized, even with the Midi Devices configuration window open. Headphone mix seems to be set based on which Cue buttons on my controller are active, but would be nice to have more control.

Thanks!

Hi @Bullrider5000, welcome to the community! Thanks for the details about your setup and the issues. This is very helpful. I’ve forwarded this to our engineering team for further review and will report back when I have news. Thanks!

Hi @Bullrider5000, sorry for the delayed reply. Our engineering team was not able to reproduce #1 or #2. Are you still experiencing this with the latest version of djay?
Regarding #3, the mix control is handled in the device on hardware, so it’s not possible to re-map it. I hope that helps!

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

I replied to the email. See below:

#1 and #2- yes, still experiencing these problems. Recently updated the FLX4 firmware and still having issues.

#3- cue mix knob on hardware doesn’t work to control the cue mix. Seems to be controlled by the cue buttons on the hardware, not the knob.

Okay @Bullrider5000, thanks for confirming. It sounds like our official support team is helping you via email then so I will let them handle things from here.

No, they’re not. No one is. I responded to the email notifying me of your forum post on Monday, January 27. That email must have been ignored as the next update I received was your forum post today (again, via an email update). I have had no other contact.

Okay thanks for the additional info. I’ll reach out to our support team as well as check in with engineering to see if they’ve had any more luck trying to replicate it.

Hi @Bullrider5000, I spoke with support and engineering, and unfortunately, they have still not been able to replicate issues #1 and #2 above. Without being able to reproduce the issue, it will be challenging to troubleshoot this further.

At this point the only thing I can suggest is that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay. You can find the files above in the following location:

  1. Windows: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912131-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-cue-points-and-other-metadata
  2. Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

I hope that helps!
