Smart Playlist unreliable for some fields

DJ Pro 5.1.6 on Mac M1 (Native).

I’ve noticed expected tracks randomly not showing up in certain smart playlists I’ve created. BPM field seems particularly unreliable in this regard.

Here is an example where a track with BPM 123 doesn’t show up with either ‘is’ or ‘is not’ filter for 123 is set.

Hi @Rob_Grimes, thanks for the video. This is very helpful. I’ve passed this onto the engineering team for further review. In the meantime, what is the source of this music (streaming services, songs stored on device, songs stored on an external drive, etc.)?

Hi Slak_Jaw, all songs in my catalog are locally stored flac files.

Thanks for the additional info @Rob_Grimes

Hi @Rob_Grimes,

  1. The engineering team would like to have a look at your djaymedialibrary database.
  2. You can find it here: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912211-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-playlists-cue-points-and-other-data-on-my-Mac
  3. Can you please upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then send a link to the file in a DM to me? Thanks!

Hi again @Rob_Grimes, just following up on my post from over a week ago. Thanks!

@Slak_Jaw Do you need something else from me here?

Sorry @Rob_Grimes, I forgot that you sent me the file via DM. Thanks.

I spoke with the engineering team and this will be addressed in one of the upcoming updates (likely 5.2).

Should I expect Smart Playlist unreliable for some fields - Bug Reports - Algoriddim Community Forums to be fixed in 5.2.1? (its not, and actually seems worse!).

  • Device model: Mac M1 Pro
  • Version of operating system: Sonoma 14.5
  • Version of djay: 5.2.1
  • Hardware/controllers used: None/Any

Here is an updated video of smart playlist using year not working correctly: https://youtu.be/ADCgckdXhDs.

Hi @Rob_Grimes, I have reopened the original topic and merged your new one with it. In the future, you can send me a DM and I can reopen any automatically closed topics. Also, thanks for the new video. I’ve shared this with engineering and will report back when I have news. Thanks!

Hi @Rob_Grimes, I spoke with engineering. They tried the db you previously posted and couldn’t reproduce the issue demo’ed in that video. They have 2 follow up questions:

  1. Are there any specific steps to make the problem occur?
  2. On a clean restart of the app, does it work ok for awhile and then start happening, or does it not work straight away?

Over the last week I added more songs to my library and curiously this issue is no longer occurring. Prior to that, it was occurring immediately on clean start consistently. I guess this topic can be closed again.

Well that’s good news @Rob_Grimes. Thanks for the update.
