Songs Unavailable during Live DJ SET

Hey Guys,

I’m not a professional DJ. I was playing at a friends home personal party with some songs I downloaded without buying them, but Djay PRO didn’t recognize half of my library, I couldn’t play half of the songs. Is it a bug? Or related to the songs not being bought? All files were .mp3, it was a windows PC connected to a sound system.

  1. How did you add these songs to djay?
  2. What source were you playing from in djay (ex. My Collection, iTunes, Local Music, Explorer)?
  3. Were the songs greyed out or did you receive any kind of error message when trying to play them?
  4. Where did you download the songs from?

Thank you @Slak_Jaw - it happened at a friend’s wedding too, half of the tracks became greyed out, it was in my laptop folder (my collection from a folder on desktop) (offline mode - no wifi). Othertime I played through beatport library connect with wifi and this didn’t happened, but now I’m kind of afraid of relying on offline mode - I have my first paid gig and I love this software but I’m afraid this will happen again. I’ve downloaded from youtube with an app called 4K Downloader. mp3 format files only.

Rog Strix 15 ASUS connected to a reloop mixtour that was connected to soundsystem JBL.
Windows 11 3 months ago (with so many updates I have no way of knowing which version).
I don’t remember djay pro’s version, this happened 3 months ago.

Thanks for the additional info @SK_IER. Can you please share a short screen recording showing some of the songs that aren’t playing?

Well, now they are not greyed out anymore. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again? I have a wedding in 10 days.

Hi @SK_IER, that’s good news. I recommend that you continue testing over the next few days and if the greyed out tracks return, please make a screen recording. Then we can troubleshoot it further. However, it sounds like the issue is resolved and there really is no way to prevent this if we don’t know what specifically caused it.

I don’t believe it’s resolved, it’s just unpredictable and there’s nothing that can guarantee this will not happen during my next event. I’ll not be using this app anymore, but thank you for your help anyways.

Understood. Thanks for the follow up @SK_IER. Unfortunately, it’s extremely difficult to repair if we cannot uncover the cause. If you decide to return to djay and are able to replicate this issue and record it, I will be happy to continue troubleshooting it with you. Thanks!
