Sort playlist manually

Is it not possible for one to arrange songs in a playlist manually? I’m trying to put together a mix but I can’t seem to drag songs up or down on the list so I won’t have to scroll through the whole library to get to the next song I want to play. I’m aware of the queue section but I need to move around the files in the playlist itself. Manually. Not by bpm, time, etc…

@DJ_A_Diffrance you can only manually sort playlists that you create in the My Collection section of Djay. Djay does not currently allow you to rearrange songs in playlists from your Music/iTunes library, Tidal, SoundCloud, Beatport or Beatsource libraries.

The My Collection library section also allows you to build smart playlists and create playlists containing songs from multiple library sources like iTunes/Music, Beatport and SoundCloud.

Ok. Thanks. For some reason it will not allow me to sort. My collection is activated and I have several playlists. I have the latest version.

1: Just to backup and add to what slak_jaw was saying. If you are talking about your main music/iTunes playlists then you can (have to) manually move your tracks in ITunes on your PC/Mac to where you want them to be in your playlists and then re-sync to Djay where they will then be in the order you want. This works fine if you usually like a one time fixed playlist order but not very helpful if you want to keep changing the same playlists on the fly in Djay.

2: You can select an ITunes playlist in Djay and copy the whole playlist to a New Djay playlist. Now you can manually sort your tracks as you want to. The main draw back is that when you add new tracks on your ITunes PC/Mac and sync them over it will only update your old playlist and not the new Djay one you created.

It’s always a pain in the ass but at least there are ways around these issues if you really need it!

Hi @DJ_A_Diffrance,

Thank you for your post!

So I can better assist you with this, can you please share a screenshot of what you are encountering while trying to sort your playlist in “My Collection”?

I’m looking forward to hearing back from you and have a nice day!

I’m not using iTunes at all. All the music is stored on the internal hd and added to ‘my collection’ in various playlists.

It’s funny because the desktop version allows me to manually sort without iTunes sync. Very frustrating.

If you notice, I’m not getting the line across the bottom of the tracks showing where the file will be dropped.

So with the Djay IOS “my collection” icon selected on the far left.

1: the sort function must be off/reset.
2: You can’t manually move the default “Music” playlist tracks
3: You can’t move the “Smart playlist” tracks (the ones showing a cog icon)
4: You can only manually move the standard playlists you create in Djay

Wooooow man!!! That did it! Thanks a lot!!!

I don’t see the option to mark as solved. I’ll try when I get to my desktop computer.
