Thanks for posting the article on pre-cuing with multiple devices. Would it also be possible to accomplish this using a 30pin/apple to composite (RCA) cable to connect to the speakers, continuing to then use the iPad mini jack for headphones? That would seem much simpler than the proposed 2-step solutions.
Probably not since the dock output and the headphone output are driven by the same sound hardware.
