Spotify loading errors

Error occured on a Macbook Pro i7 2018 aswell as on a M4 Max 2024 running newest version of djay pro

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

When loading a new track, it loads the track already loaded on the other deck. After several loads it might load the new selected track. Looks like a ram issue.

When this error starts, after couple of newly played tracks, some tracks dont load at all, no matter what deck.

Restarting djay pro solves the issue, until the error occurs again. Seems like a memory

One thing to note. I play many tracks in quick succession and only for couple of seconds. This is due to the event i am playing at.

P.s. The cracked version of djay pro (2012) had more features and was more stable than the newest version. Which is crazy!

Hi @mvtthivs, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. Since this sounds repeatable, can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

Will try to record it next time i am playing a show!

Thanks @mvtthivs, looking forward to reviewing your video.

There you go, happened again about two hours in. Only thing solving this issua is restarting djay pro. As mentioned before, older versions had more features and were more stable.

Thanks for the video @mvtthivs.

  1. How exactly are you loading the songs onto the Deck?
  2. Are you using a keyboard shortcut or a MIDI controller Load button?
  3. If you’re using a MIDI controller, please provide more details on the device and confirm if you are using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or a custom edit.

Thanks!

How exactly are you loading the songs onto the Deck?

Using the load button on my pioneer ddj sx1 midi controller

Are you using a keyboard shortcut or a MIDI controller Load button?

Mentioned above

If you’re using a MIDI controller, please provide more details on the device and confirm if you are using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or a custom edit.

Built in mapping, no custom mapping whatsoever

Hi @mvtthivs, thanks for the additional information. I’ve passed this onto our engineering team to see if they can reproduce this on their hardware. In the meantime, can you please try connecting your controller to your Mac with a different USB cable? Ideally, a high quality, properly shielded cable with dual ferrites on either end. Thanks!

Hello, thx for your effort guys!

The error occured on various cables (usb a - usb b / usb c - usb b / via dongle / direct connection) which worked fine on the older version (before AI was introduced, so long long time ago :))

I also can not load tracks manually (right click - load to deck 1/2, or drag and drop) , so i honestly believe it is not a hardware issue.

It is just, that i load tracks in high speed succession and play them for only couple of seconds. Seems like something is overflowing while doing this for a longer time (30-60min+).

Okay, thanks for the additional info @mvtthivs. I’ve shared this with engineering to see if it helps them to reproduce the issue.

Hi again @mvtthivs, our engineering team ran a script that sends MIDI actions to frequently select and load tracks. Memory usage was monitored to check if it’s significantly higher after some time (30-60 min as you described). So far, this doesn’t seem to be an issue, but they will continue testing.

The duplicate songs playing “issue” seems to be due to the you quickly double-pressing the Load button on the controller, which leads to “Instant Double”. Can you please test this an confirm?

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Hello, was just about to reply. Had a show on saturday. Loading error (loading track already running instead of selected track) happened again several times. This time even 4-5 Tracks in to the set. Just to be clear, I was just pressing load once every couple seconds, not smashing it.

Tracks not loading at all also happened again and could only be fixed by restarting the app.

Sad I had a functioning version, i fully paid for with better and more stable functionality.

Thanks for the follow up and additional @mvtthivs. Sorry to hear you are still experiencing this issue. I will share you comments with our engineering team to see if that helps them to reproduce this issue on their setups. Thanks!

Hi again @mvtthivs, our engineering team has a couple of additional questions for you:

  1. When the app is in this state, is the issue also reproducible by loading tracks via the mouse/trackpad?
  2. Does loading a different track onto the playing deck work correctly when in this state, or is the same track just loaded again?

Same error via mouse/trackpad.

Different track helps, but not always, and is just only a temporary fix, until i relaunch the application, as the loading issues occurs randomly in short sequence after it occurred once.

Thanks @mvtthivs

So i just figured some other odd behaviour when this error occurs.

Deck #1 is playing a song > Deck#2 is not loading and stays stuck on loading screen

When i stop Deck #1 and load the track i tried to load on Deck #2 before, it loads on both decks.

Maybe this helps?

Thanks for the additional info @mvtthivs. Very strange. I’ll pass this onto engineering to see if it helps at all.
