Stems quality: iPad vs MacBook Pro

I’ve realized that stems were less clean on my ipad pro (12.9’’, 5th generation, iOs 26.4.2) than on my macbook pro M1 Max (16’’, 2021).

I guess it’s for performance reasons. But what about using the latest iPad 13’’ M5, should I expect some differences too ? The stems processing performance is about the platform (macOs vs iOs) or the device performance ?

Hi @le3_dj, Neural Mix quality is hardware performance based not OS platform based. An M5 iPad 13 will run at 100% Neural Mix quality.

If that’s the case, why are 100% quality stems unavailable on high spec Windows machines?

Machines that will quite happily provide quality stems via VirtualDJ, Serato etc.

Hi @PKtheDJ, as you already know, 100% Neural Mix is available on Windows ARM-based devices. Our engineering team is looking into bringing 100% NM Quality to other high-end, non-ARM devices, but we don’t have a timeline for when this will be possible. Thanks!

Seems a bit brutally expensive having to upgrade to an M5 iPad for 100% stems quality. Especially given how powerful the M1 chip is anyway :person_shrugging:

Surely we’re not already treating those devices as out of date and not usable?

@STU-C an M5 is not required to achieve 100% NM Quality. Just letting the user know that that specific device will support 100% NM Quality. It’s also possible with M1. Even my iPhone 15 Pro Max supports 100% NM Quality.
