Thanks again @Jamie_O_Neill. How’s the sound quality of this device?
Thanks @Jamie_O_Neill and @Slak_Jaw Your routing settings and tips helped a bunch! Especially trying to cue the mix. This seems to be working. Now to test how well this works vs just sticking with a controller remains to be seen.
You’re welcome @Terrill_Marshall1
Hello everyone,
I’ve been using Algoriddim Djay Pro on my iPad for years, and I was looking for a device like this to improve my mixes.
I received the Sidekick EP-136 last Friday, and it’s a really good product.
Connecting it to Djay Pro is very straightforward; the software recognises the device straight away.
One thing to note, however: if you have an older iPad like mine (with a Lightning port instead of a USB-C port), you’ll need to connect it via a USB 3 camera adapter.
In fact, I tried using a standard Lightning-to-USB-C cable, but this type of cable is only intended for power and isn’t designed to carry audio signals.
Now, it’s time to play ![]()
Hi Slak. It seems decent. I’ve only connected it to a single minirig 4 speaker so far, but sounded decent.
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of headphone headroom the device has considering it’s bus powered, and the headphone audio quality itself was good.
At some point over the next few days, I’ll connect it to my P.A system and compare it to my Reloop Mixtour Pro. Will provide some feedback in due course.
Hi @GumGum, welcome to the Community! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds good. Thanks @Jamie_O_Neill
You also have a pop-up when connecting the EP-136 to Djay, for MIDI configuration, but did not managed to assign anything yet …
Thanks for sharing @GumGum
yeah its awesome. I would love to map cue points and transport control. I hope we get a custom mapping of some sort.
Good to hear @jniiiice. I’ve suggested this to our hardware team so we will see…
How I understood it you use outputs 3-4 as the cue outputs. 1-2 are the main stereo outputs. Mixing is done internally in your dj software.
I think TE has a good opportunity here to also add a modular and affordable “deck controller” unit, as I feel reloop mixtour pro is currently priced to high.
Personally, I hope they release a modular MIDI controller with a single small jogwheel and 4 deck layers like the LC6000.
thanks so much!
You’re welcome!
I hope you are right. Unfortunately i think their focus is on the hardware groovebox crowd, but we can hope! I’ve just bought for £28 a M-Vave SMC Pad Pocket - a tiny rechargeable 16 velocity pads Bluetooth midi controller. Works well with Djay Pro. Pads are equivalent to the pads on a budget DJ controller, little to no feedback, but functional. Quite pleased with the way it works, latency seems low, so have just ordered a second unit. Intend to use them with sidekick.
Yeah, I think you are probably correct.
