Sync automatically starts track playback

Thanks for confirming @Ben4. Can you please try to capture a short video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? I want to make sure I fully understand what’s going on here. Also, if you could share some screenshots of your djay Settings that would be helpful. Thanks!

@Ben4 please enable sharing permissions on the Google Drive file so I can open and view it.

Please let me know if it works now slak

If not try here on dropbox

Thanks for the video @Ben4. This is very helpful. First of all, I recommend you update your iOS to the latest version 17.6.1 if possible.

Then I suggest that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay. You can find the files above in the following locations:

  1. iOS: using the Files App, navigate to Locations->On My iPhone/iPad->djay->User Data
  2. macOS: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912211-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-playlists-cue-points-and-other-data-on-my-Mac
  3. Windows: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912131-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-cue-points-and-other-metadata
  4. Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

Slak thanks for this detailed response

How do i backup custom midi mappings?

You’re welcome @Ben4. Simply copy them from the djay folder on your iPad to another location and then move them back after reinstalling djay.

Hi @Ben4, I’m just following up on this one. Did the fresh install correct your issue?

Hi @Slak_Jaw

I had a gig last night so was scared to do the reinstall yet but will try tomorrow and get back to you

Hello! It’s been more than 7 days since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

I follow up this topic as having the same issue: All is set to „normal“ - no crossfader start and complete new installation of DJ pro. I had another issue with crumbling sync before (changing tempo and mad jumping of current speed of playing track), so I decided to try a fresh installation. Now sync starts playing the second deck when activated - without touching the „play“ button - as mentioned above. Obviously the workaround does not help. Any idea?
iPad Pro 6th gen

Hi @Riff, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Can you please try to capture a short video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? Please also provide specific details about your setup not just “iPad” or “Latest Version”. Thanks!

Device Model (ex. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
Version of operating system (ex. iOS 17.3.1):
Version of djay (ex. 5.1.3):

Dear Slak,
thanks for the quick reply!

Specs are:
Ipad 12.9 Pro 2020 6th Gen. 256 GB (40% used)
IPad OS 18.3.1
DJ Pro 5.2.9 (fresh installation)
No external controller attached

Video of the previous issue (and the reason for new installation with Snyc going mad):

Another problem occurs actually when (re-)adding my files to collection/playlists: Connected folders are empty after restart and 30% of the tracks are missing/greyed out in playlists - although present and playable in original folder….?

Anny support is highly appreciated!
Cheers, Riff

Hi @Riff, thanks for the details and the video. Please try turning On Resume Sync After Pause, Scratch, or Cue Jump.

Can you please create a separate topic for this so we can keep this discussion organized? Thanks!

As it appears so far, I might have solved both problems.
None of the suggestions worked, but I tried this as a workaround which might help others:

I cleared all the collection content, then imported/migrated/connected the internal „Music“ data folder to DJ. Then I selected the subfolders (f.e. „Dance Classics“ with app. 3.000 tracks/files) and had them analyzed instantly. Next step was to create playlists (not folder) with identical names and import all tracks into them.
Until now, everything works as before/expected - without any re-installation btw…
I assume, the app has some problems when importing and analyzing a huge number of tracks „at once“
Why this affects the Sync-performance is jet not obvious to me, maybe as issue with correlation or internal data compliance….?

Thanks, Riff

Thanks for the detailed follow up @Riff. Glad you got it sorted out and thanks for sharing your workaround!

A post was split to a new topic: Crossfader not fully cutting track
