SYNC behaviour in DJ PRO

Serato got this part right — I like how pressing Sync snaps the track to the grid while still letting us speed up or slow down. But right now, it’s either fully locked to the grid or BPM only. What we need is a BPM-only mode where hitting Sync aligns the tempo to the grid, but leaves it up to us whether to stay locked or drift off — especially since not every track’s grid is perfectly accurate.

I have made the same point before, I would prefer a ‘just’ BPM only mode. But this does not really work as I would expect.
But I have found a workaround. When you use the other Sync type: ‘BPM and beats’.
Basically this syncs both BPM and the phase of the track.
However, this sync mode has a feature ‘Turn off on pause, scratch, or cue jump’.

While cueing the tracks i’m usually moving the platter/record, this dis-engages sync pretty much right off the bat, but keeping the speed the same (sync mode ‘BPM only’ resets the speed when disengaging sync).

Using this mode I can scratch, slow down, speed up, manipulate all I want without affecting the other track. This is exactly the behaviour I want actually.

Not sure if this is exactly what you were looking for, but it solved my gripes with the sync modes.

Um…isn’t that “mode” called manual beat mixing?

Match the BPM to the playing track. Start the track. Nudge if necessary.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration.
