Hi @boing, the first issue I immediately notice is that you are pushing your audio signal really hard and way into the Red because you have all your EQs boosted past 12 o’clock. In general, you don’t want to always be boosting your EQs past the 12 o’clock position. You should really avoid pushing the audio signal into the red as this will cause distortion in the audio signal. Please note, that when the crossfader is in the center position, both of your decks are playing at maximum volume, so with your EQs and Channel Faders set as high as they are and already in the red, distortion of the master audio is expected. Please refer to this helpful article about properly setting volume levels when DJing: How To Set Your Volume Levels Like a Pro When DJing - Digital DJ Tips
In the djay Settings>Sound you should consider turning On the Audio Limiter to prevent clipping and distortion of the audio signal. You should also consider adjusting the Output Headroom. I hope that helps!
Hi, Thanks for your fast (re)action…
Totally agree, when I look to this screen,… But, this is how DjayPro starts , The audio fader never starts half way!?
I’m not agree with the high/mid/low tones… this is just what I want to hear (or not), more high or less ,… i understand what you are saying, but the has it to be every day the same problem. This is since months that this issue is back. It is not consistent there. Do you know what I mean?
But of course I will change the settings and let you know if this was the case. (I think you got a point).
You’re welcome @boing, the distortion will greatly depend on the songs you are playing together. Some songs are naturally louder and some are naturally quieter. So if you are for example playing 2 quiet songs together with the EQ settings you’ve shared, you might be able to avoid the distortion. You can see this in the waveforms for various songs. In my example below, the Iron Man song was clearly recorded much quieter than the My Head & My Heart song. I highly encourage you to read the article that I shared or at least watch the linked YouTube video. This will really help with the distortion issue you are experiencing. Thanks!
