The Future of Algoriddim djay

lol you can’t be serious. Serato hands down beats Djay file system.

You must be a “Senior IT Tech”, as you used ChatGPT to make this post.

You can’t put streaming services tracks into a serato playlist. With djay pro you add all streaming services providers and tracks into a my collection play list alongside your local music files. Serato allows for only one streaming service at a time. There will be positive and negative on both sides but I wouldn’t say at all Serato beats Djay hands down.

Yeah. Djay wins in that department. Try deleting all broken links at once.. try batch delete from collection & hard drive at same time. I could go on and on. I guess it’s about what’s important to tou

Good ones they are. As you say it’s what’s important to each users needs.

I actually like keeping my streaming track separated.. I use Serato also and You can’t take that crate and drag to a flash drive when it’s mixed with streaming services. So that just creates a big mess for me.

In my opinion.
The future of Djay is
A.i. Automix.
I’m a veteran Djay user (not a veteran Dj).
This App is almost there.
The light at the end of the tunnel is near for the masses.
Compared to where Djay was when it was first realeased?

Last week I recorded 7 1hr recordings in a row of Djay on Automix mode mixing All Genres in order by BPM.
About 5 mishaps of a confused A.i.

The only thing I had to do was reset the Tempo on every track since Djay doesn’t blend the Tempo well at all (Which is an active topic at this moment)..

Djay will and should always chase the Pros like you guys. Why have A.i learn from amateurs like me.
But The masses are coming to this forum in the future my musical friends.
Kinda like when Djay went with Windows and Android.

In my experience, AI is now good at automixing 30% of the time. Al does not choose the IN and OUT points correctly. This is the main problem I have. AI does not know how to listen, and there is no base for learning. Analyzing the frequencies and energy in the track, the AI makes mistakes and reduces in the wrong places.

What saves me now is that I can specify the point IN and point OUT for mixing tracks myself.

Hey @Zirrex
You are teaching A.i., cue points are exactly its learning.
Time, my friend.

So,
Apple will have Automix!

Being able to choose and preset the automix in and out points makes automix AI next level.

Still need a ear for a good track list and know the music you’re playing to set the correct cues but for the most part can set the cues and mix multiple genres pretty smoothly

If you set a point in and a point out, it won’t be A.I. anymore.

Of course it is. That’s like saying chatgpt isn’t AI if you have to provide a prompt.

Also there’s an option to have AI choose the in and out point but it’s not as accurate.

My 2cents:

I completely understand these points and can directly underline some of them. I’ve been a Serato user almost since day one. I used to be a club and festival DJ, and now I mainly handle corporate events and weddings. For me, seamless integration with controllers and devices, coupled with software I can rely on 100%, is the most important thing of all.

I don’t always want the latest stuff, and if I do, then only if it’s completely stable. For me, quality is more important than quantity because I earn my living from DJing and make a large part of my living from DJing.

I’m currently testing DJAy Pro as a possible alternative because I find some of its features really interesting and good. I’d also be willing to switch after almost 20 years.

I’ve been connecting my devices to DJAY for a week now… And they’re all differently. There’s no common thread running through all the devices, and I’ve sometimes been really dubious about sitting in front of each device…

I’ve brought all my devices to the front:
S11, CDJ3000, SC6000m, 9000NXS2, A9, XP2, REV7, REV1

The S11 alone is different from the REV7 and the XP2. I’ve been sitting here for a week, switching devices and trying to somehow make it work for me. I’m wondering if it’s all worth it, because yes… it seems to me as if they’re simply trying to appeal to the younger generation who want to try their hand at DJing. I think that’s a good thing, but then they shouldn’t do the marketing with the big players, who in turn use it to lure DJs who rely on a top-notch partner and actually earn their living from it.

The community is awesome, and I’m excited about a lot of things here that aren’t even available with the big players anymore. But if I may venture another comparison.

It seems to me as if they were building a super hyper-newfangled house, with all sorts of incredibly innovative features, but they have only done fundamental things in parts, like installing electrical outlets in every room, insulating the walls, sealing windows, etc. In return, they are already working on a refrigerator and are doing their own shopping.

I find what Djay Algo is doing so exciting, and I’m taking the time to share my experiences, because I definitely see potential. But somehow I just don’t understand many of the features, noting that the foundation hasn’t been properly laid yet, while at the same time they’re continuing to build upwards, floor by floor.

This isn’t hate on my part; it’s more the absolutely honest opinion of a long-time and experienced DJ who also wants to keep up with the times and is always open and interested in new options and possibilities.

Hey, fellow product manager here :waving_hand:
I mostly DJ with my iPad and a FLX 4, with my iPhone as backup. I love how stable and mobile-friendly djay Pro is — much smoother than rekordbox, especially the sync.

That said, a few things bug me:

  • Syncing my library across devices was a mess. I gave up and now manage it via iTunes, which I’d rather avoid.
  • The iPad library is very limited — no comments, ratings, or proper organization tools.
  • Apple Music on mobile doesn’t support ratings either, which makes organizing tracks on the go difficult. As I mentioned above, I would prefer not to use a 3rd party tool for organizing my library. But it’s still the best way. I download new tracks and listen to them on the go which is when I have a lot of time to get familiar with the new tracks.
  • The app doesn’t adjust to the section selected for the FX pads. I’d love to see the FX assigned to the pads…
  • Beat-sync can cause audible jumps if your timing is slightly off (when starting a track with volume up) — other apps handle this more gracefully.

Despite that, I stuck with djay Pro because it’s just more fun to use. But long-term, the lack of CDJ/Rekordbox compatibility will be my biggest problem — once you play serious gigs, you’re forced to switch, and nobody wants to maintain two libraries. What’s the point of playing the songs on your home controller with djay when you have to re-set every single cue in recordbox again?

Denon has the same issue with the Prime players which are from my point of view superior in many ways.

In my opinion the one and only killer feature for djay pro would be: Export as CDJ USB-Stick (together wich library features that are on-par with recordbox).

Thanks for the feedback @Derstu.

I’ve been using iTunes for years and it is simply easy

Thats good,

Have you found a way to organize your library on the go? The only thing i found possible on mobile is adding songs to playlists, however this crates duplicates when syncing back to mac.

Also apple music doesn’t support flac so you can either choose to have 50% mire filesize than necessary or to use compressed files.

For library syncing I use iCloud. It’s not the most elegant solution but I imagine it’s similar to using a USB stick.
Also certain controllers do change the app view based on the pad mode selected like the reloop buddy and mixtour pro. I’m not sure why all controllers do this but I think it has to do something with being an official partner with djay pro. It’s one of the reasons, despite it’s issue with it’s sound card, I’ll keep the reloop buddy until it does or I stop using djay pro.
