Tips on keeping my equipment safe while DJing outdoors?

My (hypothetical) equipment:

  • Reloop Mixon 8 Pro
  • 13” iPad Pro

I’m planning to play my sets around my city and I need some tips on protecting my equipment from things like:

  • People spilling foods and drinks
  • My tablet getting yoinked by lunatics
  • My tablet overheating and throttling

Hi @Nguy_n_Nam,

You could use a Decksaver for your Mixon 8 Pro to protect it when not in use. Protecting it from food an drink while in use basically requires proper management of people near and inside the booth. For the iPad, there are several companies that make waterproof cases.

I’ve never had any overheating issues when using iPads, but there are plenty of cooling pads and stands available available if you’re concerned about it. However, if your iPad is in a waterproof case, the cooling stand will be less effective. You could also consider attaching your iPad to the stand with adhesive Velcro strips to secure it better. I hope that helps!

Standard foldable DJ stands are great and do create a personal area which people stay out of.. There’s also lots of ventilation but like @Slak_Jaw says, overheating iPads aren’t really a thing. I play regular 4 hour outdoor sets with my iPad and it doesn’t get warm.

if your ipad pro has Alt DP(USB-C) so that you can output a display to a pair of Xreal Glasses, you could remove the need to view the screen, thereby making the ipad redundant for monitoring purposes. provided everything you need is mapped to your Reloop mixon 8 pro,

..at which point you could put the ipad in a more secure place(underneath your controller, in a front carry bag etc, one would just need to be mindful of the cables)

You would need a special usb-c Hub for this type of configuration, to connect the Xreal glasses & keep your reloop connected to your ipad

just a thought
