Traktor Kontrol s2 Mk3 does not work

Model device : MacBook Air 13" (2024) macOS Sequoia 15.3.1
Controller: Traktor Kontrol s2 Mk3
DJay Pro Version : 5.2.8

Hello,
I just got a new Traktor Kontrol s2 Mk3 controller when I connect the USB cable with the USB C → USB 2.0 adapter the controller turns on for 5 seconds and then turns off. I don’t know where this problem comes from. But the DJay pro software can recognize the device but I can’t use it because it only turns on for 5 seconds and then turns off. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks

Hi @Lukitoz, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

  1. My initial suspicion is a problem with your USB adapter.
  2. Do you have a USB-C to B cable that you can use to connect directly to your laptop without the adapter?
  3. If not, do you have a powered USB-C hub you could use instead?
  4. Is your S2 also connected to power using the supplied adapter from Native Instruments?

Yes the controller has a usb-b to c cable to connect to the computer, but I can’t plug it into my computer because I need a usb type C adapter

In my box I only received the usb b to c cable to connect to the Macbook but there was no cable to power the controller…
Fortunately I had one in my old device that I recovered but even with the power cable the device turns on for 5 seconds then turns off automatically.

I downloaded the Traktor Pro 4 software and with that, the controller worked perfectly but when once the software is closed the controller does not turn on anymore… And besides that I still have my pc with the Windows version with several USB ports and I also have the same problem, The controller turns on and then it turns off 5 seconds later…

Hi @Lukitoz, thanks for the additional info. Please try the following:

  1. Make sure your Mac is also connected to power with your original Apple power supply.
  2. Switch the S2 to MIDI Mode:
    a. Unplug the S2 from your Mac
    b. Hold Shift + Sync on the left deck
    c. While continuing to hold these buttons, plug the S2 into your Mac
    d. Launch djay and test again.

@Lukitoz, please refer to the instructions above. The S2 needs to be unplugged first. Then plugged in while holde SHIFT+SYNC.

Synchronization with DJay software works successfully! Thank you very much for your help

Excellent! Glad to hear that worked. You’re welcome @Lukitoz!
